Right. A lot of my dad’s clients used to be plants and factories in small towns, and he’d get crap for driving “one of them thar fancy expensive foreign jobs” (Lexus GS). That’s the main reason he picked the Flex over a car like the JX or the X5 at the time. Now, more of his clients are urban and suburban businesses, and he’s also stopped mostly giving a fuck about what people think of his car. Now, if one of his more, shall we say, patriotic clients gives him crap about his snobby import, he simply points out that his BMW was built in South Carolina, and their pickup was made in Mexico (no offense).

It’s ironic. a year ago, my dad would never consider a BMW because out of all the foreign cars, he thought BMW drivers were viewed as pretentious dicks and didn’t want that image. It took an unbelievable amount of arguing and reasoning, but I finally got him to realize that you buy the car you want, and fuck what other people think about it.

That theory is the only thing that stops me from lighting H2s with giant chrome wheels on fire.
