Received the second email in a week saying “I’ll fire everyone and find people who can do the job”. These aren’t just going to me, they’re going to the whole floor, but I’m not one to be disrespected. There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior, especially in a highline store. This one even said “The strong will survive” like he’s some sort of sadistic high school coach. MF, people are trying to feed their families, and we don’t get paid if we don’t sell cars. Trust me, no one is collecting a paycheck, there’s better ways to do that.

How old is this man? And does his boss know this is his approach right now?

Not the same, but this sounds like an experience I had playing Battlefield-2, you know, the multiplayer shooter. Using the voice function everyone’s six-man group was incessantly screamed at by the “general” giving directions, “Kill them! Get them over there! They’re killing us! C’mon, Get them!”

On and on it went. Nothing worked because direction wasn’t given. If people aren’t seeing results, it doesn’t mean everyone doing the job is horrible at it. It could very well mean the leader is not leading, or possibly a combination of the two, but if the man in charge hires people who are somewhat new at selling and saying, “You’ll get teh hang of it” and then can’t believe his guys aren’t producing, well....Guess what. A good salesman could be the best ever in the office but that bossman will never see it as the best salesman might not work well under job threatening stress. The strong will survive, heh my ass. All that will be left is a bunch of strong-willed bullying a-hole salesmen.

The future customers there would be like women walking into a sausage assault fest bar in college-quickly leaving once they notice whats going on and the leftover bro’s comparing affliction shirts and gold chains with each other.

Where am I making sense?

He is 31 I believe, and I don’t know if the owner knows or not. Maybe I should bring it to his attention...

I take it this is a VW dealership?

Used to work a contract job where they threatened to fire everyone every other day. Sometimes they held meetings to threaten us. Eighty lawyers billing their client for every minute spent yelling at us - fuck if I was going to stop billing unless I was at lunch. I will never work for that company again.

You’re making sense in literally all of this post. I completely agree.

This is a Cadillac dealership actually. The VW dealership was the one where we all got along and took care of each other...

This comment was beautifully constructed. You made sense the whole time and I agree.

I had a sales manager who did that shit. We had a 2 hour sales meeting every Monday morning where he basically just told us all we sucked. One time, he went around the room and had everybody say what they wanted to do for a living when we were kids...then at the end he says “look, you all failed at life, none of you wanted to be car salesmen.” Good guy.

I’d be tempted to tell the “boss man/child” sales will improve the minute Cadillac gets off their ass and get a competitive cross-over on the market instead of the long in the tooth SRX, as well as reducing prices on the ATS/CTS. Sometimes it isn’t the sales people, it’s the product.

Hmmm ... if the atmosphere is that bad, should you use this to change to BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Infiniti? Another Cadillac dealership?

I think I may have to.

On these contract jobs, the agreement is that, if I am there for 10.5 hours, I bill for 10 and take 1/2 an hour for lunch. If they’re stupid enough to lecture us instead of let us work on the project they hired us for, that’s their choice. This was also a firm that, after they hired a bunch of us, decided we needed to put our phones in a locker for ‘security’ reasons - we might photograph their clients’ sensitive documents and sell them. What nonsense - this assumes that, if you found a smoking gun document, you would put your hard-won professional license on the line for a few grand. Fuuuuuuuck them.

Worked at a BMW dealership for a couple summers and spent 30 minutes one day getting lectured on the fact that I hadn’t spent 20 minutes vacuuming a guys car before taking it back for service. Then the next day spent 30 minutes getting lectured on how we were behind schedule so it had to be my fault... Car dealers breed incompetent management.

You can respond to the email saying you and everyone are going to continue to try their best, but make sure you CC the owner on that email and let him read it himself.

I have never found a decent human being behind the wheel of one of these pieces of shit, with the possible exception of two chauffeurs. The people who buy this must be absolute horrors to deal with
