I figure I’ll just torrent them like I did before.

Someone made a good point that I never thought of..
Netlfix seems much cheaper but at $8 a month for 12 months...its $96. And Prime gives you music and books, streaming, and 2 day shipping. I thought it sucked at first, but now I can justify it

I have it because I still get it discounted through Amazon Student. Once that runs out, though, it’ll be a hard sell. :-/

It’s different as a monthly subscription though. I find it a lot easier to pay for Netlix monthly than Prime annually.

And unlimited photo storage. We’ve had it for a couple years and it’s totally worth it, especially once you have kids.

If you order more than 10 things a year from amazon, then the subscription pays for itself in free shipping. Then you also get all the perks, which are nice.
Don’t make top gear your determining factor, but what you can regain in cost.
Otherwise, strap on your peg leg and eyepatch and sail the seas of free media.

If you have a .edu email address I think you can still get it for half off which is enough for me for the shipping and books alone.
They do need to upgrade the amount of shows and music they have if they want to compete with netflix and spotify.

That was my thought too until I realized that I don’t read or buy books that often, don’t order stuff that often (which I normally get free shipping on anyway) and that the selection of shows and movies on Amazon is probably not as good as Netflix.
I’d really only be using it for New TG. And $100 is too much to pay. I’ll either hope it comes on DVD post-season or if I can subscribe for just a couple months at a time, I'll think about doing that.

Since we don’t really get Prime video up here in Canada... nope. Besides, I was starting to grow a bit tired of it. Blasphemy, I know, but the show really was becoming quite predictable.

In some places there’s even 1 to 2 hour shipping on items!
Prime is awesome.

They just got Sunday delivery up and running in my area! I love it

We use the hell out of A-Prime. This is just a bonus.

I guess to each their own then. I’m still in school and end up having to read a ton of books and novels; so far every one has been available for free.
And I usually order at least one thing a week at this point now for someone in the family.

This is where I am as well. My wife and I buy so much through Amazon, that prime basically pays for itself in shipping costs, the streaming video is basically just a nice perk for us, this one in particular will just be the cherry to top it all off.

Just the music and the shipping alone make it worth it.
![]() 08/03/2015 at 11:55 |

Yup, same here. They need to make a monthly subscription service just for Prime Vidoes.

Prime is so totally worth it, and I’m not even paying for it now. I think they did a promotion once where you could get free shipping if a family member had prime. I have free shipping but no streaming, but I’ll add streaming.
I buy so much crap on Amazon, and big things too. I'm about to buy a bike. With free two day shipping.

Prime is worth it. Netflix Is only a few dollars cheaper a year and prime gives you free two day shipping and a bunch of good deals on things, music plus what Netflix offers. So if you already use Amazon for stuff, even if it's only a few times a year for little things, it justifies itself

I thought they had an ITV deal? Two shows? Or just ITV for the british audience and Amazon Prime (aka torrent) for elsewhere?

Us too. I bought two garage door openers with Prime a couple of months ago. I use Prime music everyday in the gym. I’m pretty happy with it.

Is prime music sorta like spotify? or what does it all entail.

Yeah, their library isn’t as big, but it is serviceable. They have full albums and you can build playlists. As many plays, fast forwards or whatever as you like.

That will be very useful for me because I just have the free version of spotify and pandora and I hate not having enough skips. If it is included with a prime video subscriptions I don’t see a reason not to use the music part all the time.

Yeah, pretty much. They claim over 1 million songs. They don’t have everything, but it works pretty well for me.

Yep, we use our Fire Stick in lieu of cable (got 2 at the prime discounted $20/ea) and occasionally find some good stuff in their video section. My older son is randomly addicted to the Amazing Race, which is on there. We get 1-2 “Subscribe-and-Save” boxes a week, turned out to be cheaper than Costco/Sams Club and we don’t have to leave home.
Plus Top Gear(ish) TV? Win.
