I got a sick sense of satisfaction at his remarking of the interior and the price point and some of his criticisms, mostly because I’m surrounded by people who “aren’t into cars” but “really want a tesla” because of its association with venture capital and “progressive thinking”.

The Tesla seems like a manic pixie dream girl to most of us schmucks because we’d never buy a $70,000 - $100,000 car on our own and it seems like the exception, but for people who are at that price point there are serious considerations about it you have to take first.

It’s success is something that I think can only be defined in that price range too, where the advantages of an electric car make sense compared to its competitors. $40,000 lower, and the cost cutting measures will ruin the car. $40,000 higher, and it becomes laughably noncompetitive aside from being a silicon valley badge.

Speaking of... how did he go through that whole review without mentioning “Silicon Valley” at all?

Was he paid for this review by Tesla, or FP? Where are the bathroom breaks? Or the slew of “The official car of:” cheap shots? Dad jokes? I mean other than a 30 second observation of the interior, he pretty much fellated this car. This very, not-regular car.
