Since I work 9 hour days, I get every other Friday off. I try to make use of these as best as possible to do exciting stuff. This past weekend I did two days of mountain biking at Allamuchy Mountain State Park with a friend. We did a 4 hour bike ride on Friday, camped out, and another 3 hour bike ride on Saturday. That was pretty tiring but quite fun. Then Saturday, I went up to the Chatterbox and joined in on a mini Oppo meet to check out the car show there. There was some pretty awesome cars there but my phone was suffering from the two days in the wilderness so I don’t have any pictures. The weekend was topped off with another Autocross on Sunday! This was the South Jersey Region SCCA event at Bader Field in Atlantic City, NJ. Wicked fun course so I had a great time down there. Only an hour from home so I will definitely be back at the next event.
For me, its not a camping trip without gratuitous amounts of bacon. Bacon with dinner on Friday and then again for breakfast. The Bacon grease was also used to make the rest of our food much healthier. Did you know that bacon grease cures heart disease and cancer?
I really liked the Autocross course, SJR definitely puts on a great event. We got in two heats of 4 runs so I had a total of 8 chances to drive the course. I got there nice and early so I had time to walk the course 3 times. I probably could have fit in a fourth before the drivers meeting but I was tired from walking lol. It was a long course! My first time through was around 69.020 seconds and my fastest time got down to 63.978. I actually came in 3rd place in the Novice class which was cool.
What I found is that my tires were actually crapping out more during the second driving heat. I ended up with a DNF by missing a gate in one of the faster sections and just higher times in general. I checked tire pressure before the last run and my front tires were at 40 and 46 (had set them to around 38 cold). I definitely need to keep better track of that and probably get one of those garden sprayers that everyone uses. Obviously I need actual tires too but for now improving my own skill is more important.
Atlantic City
That guy pulling away on the left was super fast. I don’t actually know what kind of car that is but it looked like a ton of fun on the course. That car, the green lotus, and the chevy blazer were my favorite cars of the day. Idk how a Blazer passed tech but at least I was faster than him lol.
Fun weekend, time to try and wake up to actually function for the work week. One more picture to close off this post.
So my apartment complex is EXTREMELY strict on parking trailers in the parking lot. My friend got his trailer towed when it had been parked for about 5 hours in the parking lot, without any sort of warning. Then, I took this picture a few days later of a U-Haul trailer that had been parked overnight and somehow didn’t get towed. Some hypocrisy for sure!
