The game my friend and I are working on together... it’s a crazy 3D platformer Zelda-esque dungeon with locked doors and keys. The keys are inside paintings, kinda similar to Super Mario 64 where you jump into paintings to get stars. This post involves one of the painting levels we’re working on.

Here’s the skybox of the level... lots of Kid Icarus influences. The music is a MIDI rendition of the following:

After jumping across a bunch of coffins you end up on a colorful tube with these MonoEyes from... yeah, Kid Icarus. They’re dispersed throughout the stage.

more of them and a pain to animate the movement (this one is a bit older than the image below it)

After that... GUILLOTINES

Now there’s a dock with a pirate ship to board.

Added cleats and lights to the ship. When the player gets onto the ship, a loud foghorn sounds (The Buffalo Sabres goal horn lowered a few pitches, obviously).

Will add a bunch of these guys during the ship’s journey and animate the arm so it swings the sword at the player.

Also I just learned you can paste images from your clipboard directly into Kinja editor. Pretty cool.
