Basically Haas F1 has narrowed down their driver choices to either Jean-Eric Vergne, Esteban Gutierrez or Nico Hulkenberg.

I think Vergne and Gutierrez are no surprise as they are Ferarri test drivers now. The more the whole Haas F1 deal progresses the more it seems like they will basically be a Ferrari satellite team. Which is fine, if they can start their first season off with tons of support from Ferrari maybe they will be able to pull out a podium or two in their first year.

For my own wants I would love to see “Hulk” sign with them. The flip side to that coin, for me at least, is I would also love to see Nico in a top tier team. He is one of the better drivers in F1 right now. Unfortunately for him he has never had a chance with a top team. I would love to see him end up at Williams next year if Valterri Bottas ends up at Ferrari.

Speaking of Ferrari next year, if Kimi loses his Ferrari seat next year it could be awesome if he ended up at Haas. I don’t think he would be a good fit for a young team though. He is a very good driver, if, he is given a car he can work with. I just don’t think he is capable of developing the car. Any first year team needs someone who can help make the car better. He is an awesome driver, he just doesn’t seem to do well if the car isn’t well suited to him. Which would be a huge problem if he is with Haas in their first few years.

I personally would love to see an American driving for them, Alexander Rossi obviously would have to be number 1 on that list, IMO IndyCar racer Josef Newgarden might be good too, that’s assuming he can get a Super License.

My list for Haas F1 has quite a few if’s but here goes:

1. Nico Hulkenberg, no if’s throw money at him until he signs. He is a great driver who has always performed above where he should give the equipment he has been given.

2. Alexander Rossi, if they can get someone with some F1 race experience to be the number 1 driver. Rossi doesn’t have the F1 experience to be a number 1 driver yet. I think he has the talent to race in F1, just not the experience to be the lynch pin of a team and the one the team is counting on for good performances.

3. Estabain Gutierrez/Jean-Eric Vergne, if they can’t get Hulkenberg they will need someone to help develop the car. Both Gutierrez and Vergne have tons of test and development time at Ferrari this could pay off huge for Haas.

4. Kimi, if they can give him a car he can be good in from the get go. If he isn’t comfortable with the car it will jut be a replay of last year all over again. That won’t turn out well for anyone.

5. Josef Newgarden, the dude can drive his ass off. He has 2 wins in IndyCar this year in a team that isn’t a top level team. If the top level teams are a 100 I would think CFH Racing is an 80. Also he would need tons of test time to qualify for a Super License.

I think Hulkenbro is Haas’ best option, although we’ll see what the top tier teams want.

Fully agree, he has tons of experience and can drive, he should be their biggest target. If they can get him signed he would be a huge addition to Haas.

But like you said it’s up to the top teams. If he gets offered a ride at Ferrari, Red Bull, Mercedes or Williams he will and should take it. If he races for any of the top teams I think he will be World Champion within the first 2 seasons.

Not only is Haas F1 America’s only F1 team, they’re North Carolina’s only F1 team.

I’ve also just remembered that North Carolina is in American, and now I sound stupid oops.

On a slightly related note, last week I was at a GE plant where they make jet engine blades. The place was full of Haas Automation equipment. I don't think the Haas team will be hurting for money.

However I think Ferrari should get the new Flying Finn to replace their old Flying Finn, just as Mclaren did with their original Flying Finn for the current Flying Finn.

That made more sense in my head

I am half lit and it took a few seconds for me to figure out.

But, yes you are right. I love Kimi but, I think he will be losing his seat next year.

No I don’t think they will be Gene Haas is pretty loaded. I think he can finance the team with his own money for a few seasons if he has to.

Not quite that much of a satellite team, but ya, almost.

Hulkenberg would be a really great driver for Haas, but I’d be surprised if Hulk decided to take that risk. I mean, Force India isn't the best team out there, but moving to Haas is a big risk- landing in a potential back marker would not do his career any favors. He needs to make steps that keep him working his way up.

I did live in Washington until a couple of weeks ago we just moved to Illinois.

That is very true, Gene Haas just needs to open that fat wallet of his until Hulkenberg signs.

I actually found that hilarious. The thing is, where I live (Raleigh) actually got running water two weeks ago.

Also, nearly everyone who lives here, is actually from a Northern State or Florida, for some reason. There’s actually very few, “Southern People,” in Raleigh.

Oh cool! My father lives on Bainbridge Island, and I just love traveling out there. The people, landscape, and everything else, is just wonderful.

So either he goes to Williams, deposing Massa, or to Haas, with a risk of driving a busted car.

He should drive for Porsche.

Or staying at Force India. If Massa retires (or Bottas moves to Ferrari) then Williams would be a possibility for him (and his best choice)

Nice, it’s good to see the south catching up to the rest of the first world.

I have heard that about most of the urban areas in the NC and VA. There are more transplants then locals.

Bainbridge Island is awesome, I went out there a couple of times. The whole area around Seattle is pretty awesome, except for the traffic. I can’t wait to go back.

Raleigh has next to no race issues, nor do we have any anti-LGBT problems that most other areas in the South do, and it’s actually a really nice place to live. Places like Chapel Hill, which is 45 minutes from Raleigh, reminds me much of Seattle. Very progressive. Raleigh is a major tech hub, with companies like IBM, Lenovo, and SAS all based here. On the flip side, it is dreadfully boring. But it’s a nice place to live, overall. I love Seattle a lot more though, and am always really excited to fly out there. Even if I have to fly through LaGuardia. I hate LaGuardia.
