I just drove home in the rain and burned rubber going up my driveway. Oh and Ive only gone 7000ish miles on em and Im already down to 6/32 of tread from the stock 9/32 on all 4 corners. I hate Kumho. These Kumho Solus’ are fine, if your not driving in any sort of weather
Looks like I’m gonna start budgeting to grab a set of these wheels and some Radial T/A 225/70/R15 tires before winter hits:
Because I do not wanna get stuck with 14” wheels again. I regret buying one of the 3 tire options for my wheel size when I did. I should have bought wheels too so I couldve got better tires in a bigger size. Also those 15” American Racing AR767s would look sexy af on my truck

I also hate Kumho which is what is on my Dart, shitty rubber all around. Gonna splurge for something nice before winter sets in this year.

General Grabber AT2’s are snowflake rated and cheaper.

I would, but I dont want all terrains. Its a RWD truck. I just want tires that wont turn to rock in the snow, wont slide in the rain and actually have a semblance of tread life

Yes, but snowflake tires are basically winter tires with more capability and that last longer.

You don’t want all-terrain tires? Your pic confused me.

Hear, hear. I’m on my second set of BFG All-Terrains on a 2WD V8 longbox in the Canadian Rockies. Beats the hell out of running two sets of tires like most vehicles need here.

That was my point. AT’s last just as long as normal terrain tires now, and they are way more useable.

That pic was more of the wheels than the tires.
I want these on those AR767s:

Yeah, I realized that eventually. I still think of BFG all-terrains as being called “Radial All-Terrain T/A”, so I kinda glossed over “Radial T/A”.

The radial T/A is a tire that I don’t like. I had a set on my car and they were shit in the rain. They were decent in the dry, and I never had them in the snow. But They really are just lackluster. My buddy had a set on his taco and came to the same conclusion. But just so you know, they are shit in the rain.

Hmm I may have to do some research then. I have some visual requirements for a tire as well:
1) white sidewall lettering
2) 225/70/R15 size
3) not a 4x4 truck tire (my truck is not a poseur, it owns the fact that its RWD)

225 is wide for a winter tire on that truck if Im being honest. Id try to get like 195s or so. My magnum is way bigger and heavier so I run 225s, but im also on 18s and need to control the massive tank.
Also, losing that much tread that quickly? Is it aligned? Are you shredding them up and not telling us?

Id be lying if I said I havent burned rubber intentionally (Ive done it maybe 10 times and only once since I got the clutch); but no its aligned just fine, its wearing evenly on all 4 tires, and I’ve been rotating them every 4k miles. I think they are just shitty tires, also its been an incredibly hot summer. I think the hot asphalt is burning my tires as I drive. Also my truck came stock with 225s, I liked how it looked and I wanna go back to that width

Its fine to like the look, but in snow you want to run a slightly narrower tire, especially because the ranger isnt very big or heavy.
A 225is fine if you get an all weather/terrain tire, but if you get a dedicated winter tire, get something slightly narrower for safety and effectiveness.

you want something for snow but only one set? you need all terrain tires that are snowflake rated. Really you should get snow tires but thats up to you. My dads 2010 ranger rwd has weight and A/T for the winter and it rarely gets stuck

I’m currently running Michelin LTX’s on my Yukon. Not too sure what I’m going to use this winter but I used these same Michelin’s this past winter.

I vote definite yes on the wheels. But I am also majorly biased. Mine are actually Cragars, but the same stock-car style wheel nonetheless.
(This image is obviously pre-PB, or Pre-pushbar. This was right after I first got the wheels)

What’s the return period? When I was at Firestone we had a surprisingly long return period, though that was half a decade ago. I personally love Yokohama tires, the Geolandar line is magnificent, though Firestone’s Destination LE2 and Bridgestone Duelers are quite good too. Pirelli Scorpions if you're budget is much more than Kumho money, haha.

Best truck tires of all imo. Last forever, take some serious beating and have enough aggressive tread to do m/s and dry.
I was thinking about replacing the worn out set I have on my truck with something cheaper but posts like this just remind me of why I dont.

I actually did an assessment of what I want in a tire and what type of driving I do, I decided on a set of General Grabber HTS’. Now to start saving up so I dont spin out once winter hits

Generals are pretty good tires, but they wear faster than bfg’s. Now I haven’t bought a set in probably 15 years so that could have changed, but I stick with what i know works and bfg’s work for me.

The way my Kumhos are going, I doubt they are gonna last 15k miles. From what Ive read, the Grabbers should last 25k. So from my perspective, they are a huge upgrade

Goodyear Duratracs are THE best all around truck tire IMO you can buy. I had a set on my 2wd Hemi Dodge Ram and they were a total beast in the snow.
They are technically an all terrain but the are rated as a FOUR season tire which is a MASSIVE improvement over a traditional all season.
when it comes to tires you definitely get what you pay for. It almost sounds like you sounds like the tires you currently have are CAR tires which Khumo Solus is a budget all season and almost guaranteed to be crap in any type of weather to begin with.
Goodyear Radial TA’s will also be shit in the snow and rain they are essentially muscle car tires.
