It was a quieter crowd this Saturday. Some of the people from the previous race didn’t show up (mostly because of some important conflicting reasons), though I’m a bit sad that some of the new people who said they would show up didn’t. :/ Don’t let the one absence discourage you guys, though. You’re still welcome to join at any time.

Also, just once I’d like to make it through a race and have nobody get dropped. Seriously. You guys get to keep your places anyways since it happened on the LAST BLOODY LAP.

I’d also like to think I learned a couple things this race. Things such as: don’t pass in an area you know is bad for passing...and go end up doing it anyways.

*God, I’m so dumb...*

Also important is not forgetting to make sure you’ve got ALL the settings for the race set properly when you’re late to set up the lobby and you’re scrambling to do so just because you still couldn’t get your tune right.

*I’m pretty sure I damned myself to the back half just because I left the grid on “order by PI” (my wipeout notwithstanding...)*

Also, there were definitely some Orloves.

Fun fact: Based off the damage that happened in this race, if this was real life, three of us would likely be dead, and one of us in the hospital. Thank god for safety innovations.

I was going to show, but I was like 8 seconds off the posted time no matter what I did to my car. I think I am just a slow driver. Maybe I’ll join next time just to beat people who don’t show up.

Even with differential and toe tuning? I still don’t understand how to use most other things, but those things have shaved up to ten seconds off my lap times.

how do you go about tuning those two? I’ve played witht hem a bit, but differential tuning, I don’t see anything dramatic, and toe tuning usually bites me in the ass because I try toe in in the rear an it seems to make the car real unstable if one of the wheels loses traction.

For toe, I almost always do +0.3 in the front and -1.0 in the rear. It works for me, but I suppose it could be different for everyone.

As for differential, the lower the settings, the easier it is to power through slow/sharp turns. The higher they are, the easier it is to manage long, sweeping turns (like the first turn at Maple Valley forward). It’s essentially an LSD, and you’re deciding just how limited it is. The lower the percentage, the more open it is.

I typically have mine set between 35 and 50 (both acceleration and deceleration) for a well-balanced track, around 10 for a very tight one, and between 65 and 75 for a very wide one.

That said, I’m nearly always the highest PI in our lobbies, so I’m probably not the best tuner to be giving advice.
