The good: the car is getting some interesting updates.
The bad: No 1LE-like package as was rumored, nor has the LT1 replaced the LS3 (but I already mentioned the latter in my VIN decoder post).
http://www.gmfleetorderguide.com/NASApp/domesti…
Functional stuff includes the addition of a dual mode exhaust (like whats on the Corvette and Camaro), as well as an appearance update, described as functional hood vents, new front fascia appearance, and ducts for the front wheel wells (that last one is described as improved aero, but it MIGHT be for brake cooling as well). The brake calipers are now red in color, and the wheels are now described as ultra-bright, machined face, cast aluminum (so those who can’t tell the difference between polished and chrome have nothing to complain about anymore, though the switch from forged to cast construction is a bit odd). ‘LED front signature lighting’ is also new, possibly replacing the fog lights (they’re gone).
Speaking of things that are gone, two colors are deleted: Perfect Blue, replaced by Slipstream Blue, and, sadly, Alchemy Purple, which has no replacement. Also gone are the CD player (noooooo) and the 3.5 mm input jack (meh).

Are you telling me the SS doesn’t have a V8(LT1) anymore??

Are there photos out for the updated front fascia? Why would they take out the 3.5mm jack? Can you only use Bluetooth now?

Still has the LS3. I guess they don't want to ship over the LT1 just to ship it back.

No, the LS3 is still there. Should have been clearer, will edit the post.

No. It uses the previous LS series.

In order: not yet, not sure, no idea.
I don’t work at a dealer, I just have the GM order guide site bookmarked and I like to let others know about enthusiast cars.

Was at a Chevy dealer recently and they had a few of these. One was the new blue they have on the trucks with a stick, great looking machine.

Oh!! I thought that it used the LT1 the whole time! My mistake.

It’s cool. It is a bit odd, but its not like the LS3 is a bad engine.

It’s too bad. It’s a great car. Just too plain. They only sold 2,479 in 2014. Give it some spice, GM. Put those Aussies to work. 415 HP and a 6 speed manual, Corvette type magnetic ride control (2015 spec). What’s not to like? Duh, it’s ugly.

Sales volume is partially restricted by CAFE, plus GM only plans to bring over so many (just enough to honor the export agreement I think). I’d say it’s selling pretty well given the constraints (they were going to call it a success if they sold 1700-2000 a year, if memory serves).

Then at just under 2500, it is deemed a success, in their minds. I think I have seen 4 all year.

It's not ugly. Just understated. Like the crown Vic is understated.

“It’s not ugly...” I respect your view but both are ugly, IMO. To each his own.

Work in Duluth ga which is home to about every car dealership you can imagine. I’ve seen cts v wagons, i8’s and i3’s. Hell I see the hellcat twins almost everyday. Never seen a Chevrolet ss. Even Rick Hendricks who has a parking lot full of corvettes didn't have one last time I checked.

Maybe your local Chevy dealers just don’t order any? I dunno.

Total sales for MY 2014 were close to 3k (they sold 418 in the last few months of 2013 and all of those cars had to have been VIN’ed as 2014 models). I’d say that beats expectations.

The want is definelty strong. I've heard you can have one in manual but I've never found one.

Maybe that's the case. I'm hoping it catches on. I'd love to own one once it makes it to the used market

Manual cars are on US soil, you just have to look. I seem to recall reading something about how dealers with strong Corvette and Camaro sales would be given preference when ordering (with regard to dealer stock) but I’m not sure.
