You might be better off leaving the front impact bumper or making it chrome to match with the body line. The green makes it look a bit..off. Other than that though, not bad.

I do too, but people are supposed to notice the painted bumpers ;)

I like the painted look it makes it look more like an RV8.

Yeah, I understood that :) The thing is, I like the yellow one better, even if it’s got the stupid black bumpers, I don’t like painted bumpers on the MGB. But hey, do what you like man :)

I'd either colour-key them, or paint them satin black.

I noticed the painted bumper but I didn’t notice how weird it looked till it was painted. I thought they were a different design at first glance. Looking at again though, I think it’s just the shade or type of paint makes it seem a little off. It looks lighter and stands out which probably wouldn’t be an issue with yellow. It looks poorly fitted as well

I’d go for satin black. Have you messed around in Photoshop with the chrome bits? Perhaps it’d look cool if they were black as well?

It appears to be a cheaply painted replacement bumper. What I want to do if I buy an MG B is to complete the same concept, but with better execution.

I would go chrome with my upcoming MG B, but converting a rubber bumper car is money better spent on a carb rebuild and early model springs.

But what about if it were driven in fair weather only, and with a comprehensive tool kit and repair manual in the car at all times?

Paint ‘em! Paint ‘em now! Those 5 mph bumpers are the worst plague ever foisted upon many a beautiful car of that era. Paint ‘em or rip them off and put proper little chrome one on.

A tool kit and repair manual wouldn’t stop it from constantly needing work. Father of an acquaintance had one, great car when it worked. Which was rare. In other words, pretty much everybody I know with a British car is constantly having problems with it.

Looks better unpainted. Better still import get the pre-rubber-bumper bodywork and put that on. Also the green one is clearly riding too high (less aparent on the yellow one).

My mother had a ‘73 for five years (sold it two years ago) and it worked (somewhat poorly) that whole time without ever leaving her stranded. The top didn’t leak, but she did get condensation freezing on the inside of the windshield in cold temperatures.
