There’s a house across the street from my sister’s house that I have been watching die a slow, painful death.
Every time I go over there, I look out their front window and wonder how long it will be before you can’t see the house anymore. Shit is overgrown. REALLY overgrown.
She’s been there for three years, and no one seems to know much about the old man across the street. He doesn’t come out much, hasn’t cared for his property for a while, and recently, has moved out. (some say he lives with a girlfriend) He only stops by the house once a week or so to cut the grass.
Here’s a progression of how the earth is slowly reclaiming the house and everything near it.
(These first several are from StreetView, the last one is one I took last week.)
2007
- Driveway still in use, access to the front door is good. Garage door not accessible.
2012
- Driveway still in use, front door reaching tip-toe access only. Volvo and Trooper still parked on street.
2014 - Volvo and Trooper in driveway
2015 - Trooper hidden from view, machete needed for home access.
The last few times I have been there, I had no idea there were TWO cars in the driveway. It wasn’t until after I tweeted the above photo that she told me about the Trooper

Zillow doesn’t know what shape it’s in, that’s for sure. :)
That’s what those homes are trading for, though.

There was an episode of animal hoarders or something like that where a woman had like 97 cats. Her family had an intervention or something and they brought in an inspector. The inspector said it would be cheaper to demolish the house and build a new one.
ETA: I should probably also mention that hoarders freak me out.

Didn’t know Streetview could tilt a house.

I think that was one of the 2 episodes I have seen. Wasn’t there a bunch of dead cats hidden among the crap in the garage too?
