Some form of whisk.
And whether it is or not, I can’t believe I remembered that word.

I think so too, but could be the function of the squeeze handle? I figure a whisk would want the filaments or whatever separated at all times, not selectively...

An expandable beehive whisk. Used mainly for dressings and egg beating, you can close the spring around some mix and use it to distribute over a salad or whatever.

If it is a whisk, the handle seems flimsy. It wouldn’t be strong enoough to stir viscous materials.
On the otherhand, it would be helpful if the whisk opened its wires a bit for cleaning, since everything gets stuck inside the whisk when you use it.
