AKA I drove like a nutter. That shit was planted as I was weaving around the Safeway parking lot. I knew it was fun at first, but god damn that was amazing fun.

Felt as if it was built for the track.

Just out of curiosity, was out the CVT or the manual? I drove the last gen and liked it quite a bit, albeit the NVH was a little much. I’m pretty sure I’ve sold a few to onlookers at the auto show each year from showing them all the different seating configurations (magics seats etc).

Nice! Also great picture this is one of my favorite angles on cars. I wish more people would take it.

If it has the 6-speed manual, this one is identical to my coworker’s... His is pretty decent, nothing like the crapcan Insight he had before it.

Oddly, these things have stupid-stiff suspension that doesn’t match the character of the tires or car. It feels racecar but lacks any of the benefits of the rough ride.

Hondas typically have stiff suspension. My friends Camry was like a boat compared to my Accord.

But they don’t handle to match it. That’s what doesn’t make sense about them. I deal with a pretty rough ride, but in exchange I can corner without slowing down. The Fit still pushes and feels unstable. Not as bad as the second-gen Insight (which had similarly-stiff suspension, but pushed so bad that it was scary even as a passenger), but almost nothing that isn’t dirt cheap is anywhere near the Insight in that regard.

I had the Gen2 fit with the 5-speed manual, and can confirm the slow-car-fast goodness of the model. At speeds below 40mph, it’s pretty darn fun to drive. Especially with the manual shifter, since the wee engine is happy to be thrashed.

I drive a Fiat 500 Abarth now, and I wish the Fiat had the tight clutch, stick and suspension action of my old Fit. I’ve actually modded the Abarth with a short shift adapter and stiffer rear torsion bar (among other things) to get it closer to what the ‘09 Fit used to do.
