I’m holding off for a bit. Might as well wait until some of the release bugs are ironed out.

I really need to decide on a new laptop. My old MBP is so damned slow, and I fancy moving back to Windows on both my machines - already have a main desktop - but it’s really hard to choose an actual replacement. A decent trackpad is a must for me, and those would appear to be in sadly short supply.

the performance and multi-touch ability of the touchpad on my ASUS is quite nice, but its physical construction are... um... acceptable, barely.

I spent my morning at my local Microsoft Store and played with all the laptops they had to play with. Then I went to the nearby MicroCenter and played with those, too.

The Dells are pretty nice. The XPS 13 is lovely.

HP’s design is much letter, but the trackpads I sampled suuuuuuuuuuck.

Asus is making some good stuff, their higher-end touch screen laptops are quite nice.

Samsungs are, well, as expected. Made to look nice, don’t feel like they’ll stand up to as much abuse as they should.

Lenovo’s feel very well-constructed though a tad heavy for the size, but not unbearably so.

There were a few others but none felt remarkable. A couple years ago Sony made some of the best-feeling keyboards and trackpads, but I can’t speak to that now.
