As regular viewers of Lehto’s Law know, my dogs ignore the “ON AIR” signs and occasionally walk through the background of my videos. This leads to the obvious question: Which dog made the best cameo appearance - Milo or Wolfy?

I have been doing the podcast Lehto’s Law now for almost a year and added a video component to the project a few weeks back. It’s all a learning experience - even for my shelties, Milo and Wolfy. (See pic: Wolfy on left, Milo right.) You have not heard from them yet because they are relatively shy when it comes to cameras and microphones and so far, the UPS man has not knocked while I was recording.

Kinja'd!!!

Deliverymen disappear in these parts but it’s not a quiet affair. The tumult would force me to stop recording until the fur settled. But I digress.

Kinja'd!!!

Keen-eyed viewers caught Milo’s first walk-on in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . He did not speak but his presence permeated the very fabric of the show.

Kinja'd!!!

Wolfy, perhaps jealous of the media attention, boldly strolled across the set !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , drawing both criticism (from Milo) and praise (me, “Good boy.”) Which brings us to the questions all of the Gawkersphere is asking: Whose walk-on was stronger? Was Milo’s inspired? Was Wolfy’s derivative?

I studied this and came to the one and only possible conclusion.

It was a tie.

I will now run from the building as spectators pelt me with insults and physical objects for taking the obvious easy-way-out when trying to choose between children. Can you blame me? These guys know where I live.

Perhaps you should do an interview with the dogs, as a listener and not a watcher, I would like to hear the interview!

So which is the favorite car of the dogs?

Kinja'd!!!

I think mine like the c30 best because of the large rear glass hatch

They like the Explorer. Milo (the blue) insists on sitting in my lap as I drive (I KNOW, it’s not ideal) and Wolfy has the passenger seat all to himself.

Yes but which explorer!? Dun dun dun! (I already know it’s a tie just like the dog cameos)

Well, the last two were identical so I doubt they even realized that one was replaced by another. Then again, they do know much more than we give them credit for.

I am not qualified to judge as we only have two cats. What I will offer is an observation made by one of my favorite comics, Dana Gould. The only creature that can simultaneously sit on your lap and ignore you is a cat. And maybe a stripper.

I had a sable sheltie when I was a child. I have since graduated to mutt.

And could one really choose between two strippers and pick a favorite? I rest my case.

Many people don’t get that my dogs are shelties because most shelties are sables. I’ve always liked them (and pretty much any herding dogs.)

Great pic!

Their thought process is probably something along the lines of; “it looks the like the same car but it don’t smell the (vomit/pee/poop) from that one time I (vomited/peed/pooped)

Thanks!

My grandparents had either a tri-color or a black/white (hard to remember, I was young and it was long ago) which they bred to a sable. We got one of the puppies. Fantastic dog. She did her best to keep me in line. She even ate all of my halloween candy for me one year just so I wouldn’t get a tummy-ache.

There are four color combinations I have seen: Sable, blue merle, bi-black (like Wolfy) and bi-blue (Milo, which is like blue merle but without any brown). If you watch any of the dog shows, they are ALL sables. Kind of sad: I like them too but the color combinations on the other ones can look pretty neat.

I’ve seen sable, blue merle, and tri-color in real-life. Now that I know they exist, I’m really intrigued by the bi-blue.

Our other dog is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Not my choice, but he makes the kids happy. After he leaves, I’m shooting for another lab (my buddy in grad school), but my wife is thinking bulldog.

Our big dog insists on sitting on the driver’s lap too. So far, with great effort, her requests have been denied. I’ve taken to tying her leash to the cargo tie-downs in the back of our Explorer just to keep her off of us. The little dog just lies down wherever. He’s not a fan of riding in the car.

I once got pulled over by a Sherriff’s deputy while Milo was in my lap and Wolfy was in the passenger seat (seems a light I had gone through might have changed yellow-to-red earlier than I thought.)

I could not get them off of me before she approached so I rolled down the window and apologized. She laughed (!) and told me to watch it. Both dogs stuck their heads out my window to say Hello to her. Turned out she liked dogs and let us go with a warning (Hey, for all she knew, Milo was driving.)

If you want herding... We have a German Shepherd Dog and a Border Collie who do their best to make sure that we stay in line, and do the appropriate thing. We have 2 other dogs, both Bitsers, and I swear that there is duty rotation between the four of them for certain duties (always one upstairs if one of us is upstairs - even if there is food in the kitchen etc).

I’m way down under and obviously the legal comment doesn’t apply to Sydney Australia however your podcasts are entertaining and now that I know that you’re a dog owner (for Milo & Wolfy) I’ll watch all the more. Keep up the good work that you do.

Cheers
