Driving in to work tonight, in the rain, on a busy FFX County Parkway, I saw no less than 5 cars barreling down the road with no lights on.

Those people deserve to have their licenses taken away permanently.

I wish the cops cared about this as much as they do catching the guy doing 70 in a 60.

Well here in my town, if they were to start enforcing that they would have to start using headlights themselves. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen a cop driving without his lights on at night.

Never mind the interior gauges automatically lighting up as an “excuse”, but how the hell do people manage to drive without any actual lights on the outside of their car?

Where I live (NY) it’s common to drive on pitch black roads in the city because lighting the streets isn’t important and it’s not like it would help prevent crimes, especially in a huge city. If you drive on any of those pitch black roads without your car’s lights on you may as well drive blindfolded.

2015 and automatic headlights still aren’t a standard feature. My ‘03 Yukon has automatic lights that don’t even let me turn them off at night if I turn the switch.

Yup, I am willing to bet I know the exact reason....it’s mostly stupidity on the drivers parts, but it hinges on technology changes in newer cars as well - see my recent blog post, haha!

In my state, that’s actually illegal. I’ve yet to hear of a ticket issued for it, but I keep waiting

That’s the thing. It’s night . It’s dark outside . There is no sun . Turn your lights on.

the van and BMW have auto lights, often times I don’t think it’s enough, and switch on the foglights in the rain.

I know, sadly.

I for one, have made it a habit to ALWAYS drive with my headlights on; regardless of time of day, weather etc
