Service packs are dead. Besides, was Windows 7 SP1 really that much different from Windows 7? That was basically nothing but a glorified cumulative security patch.

Not a true start button. When I click on it my screen changes to Metro, it doesn’t pull up the Programs list, shutdown menu or other options. To do anything useful with it you have to right click which is annoying.

Windows 8 had a pretty smooth transition.

No, it’s definitely a true Start button.
You’re asking for a menu.

wrong, it also works as the type box from the start menu - you can type any file, program, control panel or setting without having to even touch your mouse. :)

IT’S NOT A START BUTTON. WHEN I CLICK IT MY SCREEN CHANGES TO USELESS AND ENDS WHATEVER I WAS DOING. LOUD NOISES. WHY ARE WE YELLING. I LOVE LAMP.

It’s a Start button, that takes you to a Start Screen. What you’re complaining about is the lack of a Start menu.
Why do you think I used “/pedantic fuck” in my original post? Because there’s already a Start button in 8.1, it just doesn’t take you to a menu, but a full-screen.

I’m glad I never got 8 installed on any computer. Looking forward to 10 though.

Technically, it does bring up a programs list and shut-down menu with other options when you hit the Windows 8.1 Start button.

UI for Windows 10 is a hot mess. Functionality is there, but holy shit is it ugly. The new, skinny iconography for charms and other functions is fucking awful. It looks like Android Jellybean and I hate it.

I have the ability to upgrade but I’ve been waiting to see if it’s really better than Win7.
