Went for a mountain drive with some new friends. It’s amazing how a facebook group can get people together that would have never met otherwise. I’m old at heart so social media still scares me, but I have to admit being a part of this beautiful trail of cars made me happy for it. Thanks to Reyes of myactivetrend.com for his photography. He was smart to ride in the M3 and not in my sauna of a car where air conditioning was definitely a secondary priority to “how gigantic can we get the rear tires” ... the same can be said about the brakes.

But seriously, I met a random group of good guys from different backgrounds and had a blast. Last week we only had 3 cars; hopefully we keep uncovering the closet-enthusiasts in the Columbus, GA area (it’s hard to find them in the sea of gigantic-rimmed Chargers and Camaros). Enjoy some pics! And if you are in our area, let me know and join us for a ride! The best part about cars are the people you meet.

My Viper thinks that MPGs should be seen the same way as golf scores...

Thanks again to Reyes from myactivetrend.com - great pics and hope your Miata gets fixed quickly so you can drive with us next time!

Gorgeous GTS.

I feel your pain with regard to the a/c and brakes. I plan on fixing both in the somewhat near future.

It’s so nice to see a 997 GT2 actually being driven.

I got the 02 for the ABS but I’m coming from an Elise where it was so easy to brake cause the thing weighed less than a ton. The AC I can live with for the most part and isn’t too awful. How do you plan to fix your AC?

It’s so great that you could find good people on Facebook, looks fantastic.

I went to a Facebook JDM meet once. Wasn’t so good. The people are the asshole showoff type who just want to rip skids in their battered Skylines and Silvias. One day we’ll have proper JDM enthusiasts driving these cars around, but at the moment it’s still largely children.

It appears the Viper has eaten it’s front tires. Possible aggressive driving that day on the back roads?

I have a 96 so I have no ABS and I’ve locked up the fronts a couple times...the brakes are worse than the Brembos I had on my 2011 Mustang GT which weighed a few hundred pounds more.

My AC is completely non-functional right now, I suspect the o-rings on the lines going into the compressor (common problem). I’m going to replace those and have my system recharged...hopefully that takes care of it.

Look at the pic by the tankers, it's just gravel dust.

Yeah, there is another group in town that is just a bunch of loud mouth dudes that act immature and drive stupid. Funny thing is that they are all the same age as us - mid 20s, but just a completely different dynamic.

Mid 20s? I’m mid 20s, I consider those to be quite expensive cars for someone of my age.

I think the money says a lot. People who can afford such cars and are able to pay for them are generally a higher class of people. Those who buy a $3k 180SX to rip skids and drive into the ground, not so much.

Not always, I’m getting into some broad generalizations here...

I’d love to cruise with your group, if only I were in the same area. I’ve done some cruises with the local 300ZX club. They’re a mix of good and bad, but there are definitely some great people in there.

Some people make money earlier than others. I was wise with investments following a deployment to Afghanistan. I’ve owned several cars and only paid more for one than I’ve been able to sell them for. My parents have given me $0 since I turned 15. I’m proud of what I’ve done, the way I’ve earned my money, and the cars I’ve chosen to spend that money on.

That’s awesome. I know people who have been deployed to Afghanistan, but I don’t think I know any who made wise investments afterwards. Good on you.

Hahaha so true. Usually it ends in a divorce, a motorcycle, and a multitude of excuses. 90% of my platoon without exaggeration.

Yeah I’ve seen that around my friends who are in the army too. In our case it’s usually a powerful Commodore as well.
