The link does not work for me for some reason.

I know there’s at least one Opponaut who has one of those things though.

Mopar reliability is not very trustworthy, so I’d be very cautious of any neglect or potential issues.

Old school 3.9 Magnum has got to be better than the 3.7 Powertech... though still lacking power.

Link is dead here too.

The Transmission would be my only worry. The 42RE and even the “HD” 46RE are fragile. My old Dak R/T went through two slushboxes while I had it.

Outside of that they’re really decent, good looking rigs.

Engine is solid but that trans is a nightmare. I had a 99 V6 2wd with the auto and I can’t tell you how many troubles I had. But for 2500 bucks it’s not a bad price

Nice price. In Charlotte it's at least $1000 more for Taft truck.

I have a 01’ with about 160k on the clock, 3.9L and 2wd. It was not treated kindly in its past life before I got it, but it’s been a champ for me. The good thing about these trucks is everything is plentiful and cheap to repair, outside of heavy transmission work I really can’t think of anything you couldn’t do at home yourself with fairly basic tools.

The automatic in mine shifts pretty hard, but has so far been trouble free. You’re looking at a manual so that shouldn’t be an issue.

The only thing I’d look out for with the Dak’s is paint/rust (mine is going bald) and the differential(s) seals. Thankfully those are cheap to replace.

Good luck, I paid $4000 for mine and it has been worth every penny, for $2500 you really can’t go wrong.

Dakotas: Expect the motor to run forever, tranny is probably getting EOL and everything else is anyone’s guess... But for $2500 now and another $2k for a transmission and you have a running truck for probably another 15 years (just without AC, power windows etc.)

Or the transmission could go and everything else would go at around the same time...
