This past week my girlfriend and I took a roadtrip from Victoria to South Australia to spend time with some family. We added about 3000km to the 300ZX’s odometer, spent whole days driving, nearly hit a few kangaroos (they crazy), almost ran out of fuel (no one in the distant country sells 95 octane), and had a great time. Here are some pics
We left early in the morning. It’s winter here but I was determined to drive all the way to SA with the roof off. For some reason the inland town of Ballarat was colder than anywhere else at 5 degrees (Celsius) below freezing, but we persevered with gloves, scarves and heater.
White kangaroos, who knew?
The motor museum in Birdwood had a lot of pre-war cars, and an interesting selection of more modern cars. Highlights include a (non-BTTF) Delorean, the BE-1 and S-Cargo, some interesting Australian cars, a couple Rolls Royces, an E-type, a 260Z...a Mercury Capri for some reason...a Chrysler Airflow...some interesting Holdens...I could go on.
Adelaide, SA’s capitol
Kept seeing this thing. What is it!?
I let my girlfriend drive for some of the boring sections. Sitting there for 12 hours straight was killing me. She did a fine job, despite Google Maps dropping the ball a bit.
Typical Australian country road. Capped at 110 km/hr (68mph), enforced with speed cameras. You Americans don’t know how lucky you are! When we got back to Victoria the limit dropped to 100km/hr.

I know right, all those American posts about glorious Summer are killing me. But we did a pretty good job of denial.
Thanks :) The frozen grass crunched when you walked on it. Very unusual for Australia, we don’t get snow except for the mountains.

I just don’t understand why! It’s not especially high or low as far as I can gather, there’s no ocean nearby!
My father insisted we went to “the best McDonalds in the free world”, Bakery Hill.

It’s got a certain charm though doesn’t it? I had no idea there were 5, we sort of just breezed through
