Lesson learned: Don’t let some people drive your car. Because they might try to start it in 3rd gear, erupting clutch smoke. My clutch now slips. I also installed my Short Shifter.(pre short shifter pic here). Slightly long loose shifts have been reverted to very firm gates and a very satisfying shift. And super short throws. I took this on the Oakland Hills yesterday and went canyon carving. Dandy.

That seems like a fairly nice entertainment system and the Nav screen looks clear and easy to read.

I don’t use the nav system (horrendously hard to use and makes a loud ticking sound with the NAV DVD). But audio is AMAZING

OH NO!!! DVD based ones are the worst. Welp there goes the compliment for that. I used to really want the Matrix XRS back in the day. I have no idea why but it just seemed like a cool little sleeper.

It is an amazing cool little sleeper. It's the Celica GTS I had fantasies of (when I was 5 ish) which would be practical for life.

Who in their right mind tries to start a car in third? Jesus.
Anyway, where in the hills were you? Up around Skyline Boulevard?

Is that the factory HU? I’m looking for something besite the plain Jane AM/FM/CD that came in my Matrix. My clutch is also starting to slip, but the original one lasted 120k, so I’m not complaining.

It’s the factory NAV system, and it’s the Delco unit instead of the 2004-2008 Denso unit they had. And the DVD for the NAV is expensive. And the fucking ticking noise...I’m retrofitting a Nexus 7 and a cheap unit I can hide inside..Waze goodness

One that hasn’t grasped the short shifter very well. I wasnt going on Skyline, but just on the road by the steam trains (forgetting the road name right now) down to bear creek.

Nice. I’ve been looking at the Android powered units, but the really nice ones are stupid expensive, and the cheap ones just aren’t there yet.

Very likely. But there are many spaces in the interior to hide one.
