A frank grimes service announcement.
I present Exhibit A
Steps to ruining a ZO6
1. Get red. RED!!!!!!! Hey look at me I have a car and it’s RED!!! Now maybe I am just racist but I hate red cars. Cept for red cars that don’t scream RED!!! from a PA systems that would make the blue brothers jealous. I have seen too many chevelles or mustangs with great original colors crappily repainted in ferrari red or viper red or some other bright flat boring red. Also its called resell red for a reason.
2. Put large black wheels on it. Because the stock wheels are too gorgeous and light.
3. Use red anodized and black spike lug nuts that belong on some flat billers lifted diesel with monster stickers on every surface. Wheels need more weight to help the tires stay grounded to the ground.
4. Take of the stock lightweight titanium exhaust and put on something else because its bigger shinier and has large tips sticking out and a chrome corvette badge and it is louder so its better and more HP cuz loud.
5. Get vanity plates that say something like “badvette” or “evil” or “2fast4u” even though every single mod has only ruined the performance compared to a stock ZO6
6. Take off all ZO6 badges because they were really ugly obtrusive and dont look custom.
Now you know all the pro tuner mods to make your ZO6 a race car. Or if you mistakenly bought a ZO6 but really wanted just a normal corvette here is how you change everything that makes it unique and make it look like a normal corvette cuz sleeper.

It could be worse. It could be much worse.

Yeah, but at least that’s not a Z06.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 12:56 |

Positive note, they look like C6 grand sport wheels. Rimz get a lot worse than those.

this is orange. confederate flag on the roof?

Aren’t those C6 Grand Sport wheels?

LOL WUT
(I like red.)

I don’t have a problem with 2, 4, and 6.
The wheels look like newer Corvette wheels. If you have a Z06, might as well hear it, I just wouldn’t throw away the old exhaust. I like clean cars, the less junk on the metal, the better. All my opinions.

Not just an FRC?

I bet that wing helps alot (sarcasm). How could anyone think that looks good, I mean shit who puts two bowties on the back along with many other things.

...I might know that Corvette if that picture was taken in South Carolina. We have a C5 FCR autocrosser running black C6 wheels.
Counterpoints:
It might not actually be a Z06 but the rarer fixed-roof coupe with the Z06 rear brake ducts added on afterward. So it’s a FRC looking like a Z06 without the price premium. Most Z06 owners I’ve met prefer to keep their fender badge intact rather that look like a regular FRC.
Like the one pictured in my post, he’s running larger C6 wheels because of tire selection choices. There are better choices for wider grippy tires at 18s than 17s. He was originally running RE-11As but recently threw on the smoking-hot RE-71Rs.

Nothing worse than those god awful 2003 commemorative edition vettes

Looks good to me!
![]() 07/24/2015 at 13:05 |

Maybe... just maybe...
It’s a hardtop coupe from 99-2000?
Hopefully?
![]() 07/24/2015 at 13:15 |

Probably changed the wheels since every goddamn regular C5 puts Z06 wheels on their car.
But it looks like he replaced them with Grand Sport wheels, hmmmm.
I think the C5 Z06 is one of the sexiest Corvettes ever made. That hardtop, mmmmm.

If I got a C5 Z06 it would probably be red.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 13:22 |

sorry. just my perspective. I like some reds on some cars.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 13:24 |

agreed they look great on a C6 but in plain black they just disappear.

I like this red corvette! I also suspected fake ducts when I first saw it. But I guess I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I should look in the interior for more badging. Would be awesome if it an auto.

yes.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 13:41 |

Surprisingly, all the FRCs I’ve seen with the duct mod go all the way to make it functional! Especially since most of the ones I’ve seen have seen duty on track, auto-cross, or the occasional street race. I’d be impressed if a FRC came with an auto, seems like anyone who ordered one did it for the improved rigidity for racing.

I believe the C5 zo6 could only be had with a manual. so i thought it might be a good way to see if its a fake zo6.

The only other color than red that looks good on my Solstice is black.

Repo’s tho, grand sport wheels wouldn’t fit (TOO WIDE SON)

Wait, Chevrolet ctually sold those???
![]() 07/24/2015 at 14:34 |

No, even early 2000 GM was smarter than that. Some people, most likely Dads, made a company that produces them.

I saw one of those at a car show a few years back. Absolutely horrendous in person. And I thought the pictures were just bad...
![]() 07/24/2015 at 14:43 |
|
Yep I saw one at an antique store and the owner tried telling me it was a 1953 but with upgrades. It was so ugly. Really I cant think of an uglier car in person.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 14:44 |
|
nope. only the Z06 has the vent just in front of the rear wheels.
![]() 07/24/2015 at 15:31 |
|
newer c6 vette wheels. so lighter and stronger than stock
looks like a functional z06 brake duct they added to a non z06 and looks like brake conversion
i dont see a single thing wrong with this

I don’t like most reds on cars. There are exceptions (recent Lincoln MKZs, 2006-ish Lexus GS, and the last few years of Ford F-150s have good reds that complement the bodies; also the McLaren F1 GTR with the yellow writing, because F1 GTR), but very few.
I also don’t like corvettes. I appreciate what they are, but I don’t like them. There are - to me - so many drawbacks and so few positives that are able to be utilized on a daily basis that I see the car as the frivolous purchase by middle-aged guys who think spending over $50K on a car made with the same materials as most basic boats is a wise decision. The exception to this is the first generation, which are striking and timeless in comparison to the dowdy wheeled phalluses that succeeded it. This includes the current generation, which feels no more special that a Crude RS, and is relatively anonymous from the interior without the several corvette logos and emblems festooned about the area.
Despite not liking corvettes, I feel I must be pedantic: I believe it’s Z06, that is, Z, the number zero, and the number 6, just as the current car has a Z07 package, along with other gm offerings of a Z followed by two numbers, like Z71, Z28, Z34, Z24, etc., which started with the relatively-sensibly-named Z28 package, which IIRC stood for “2 wheels, 8 cylinders”. In contrast, with the Z24 and the Z34, the numbers stood for engine displacement in tenths of a liter, that is, Z24 = 2.4L I4, Z34 = 3.4L V6. But gm's good at bastardizing things it's made iconic.

It’s still a Corvette though.
