I can think of a new bumper sticker for crime-doers to get then!
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/07/23/cou…
The idea is that air fresheners, especially multiple air fresheners, could be masking the smell of drugs. As for pro-police bumper stickers, they apparently indicate that people are trying too hard to look like “good guys.” Rosaries are reportedly often used by drug smugglers ….

While this may be true it may be because a lot of drug smugglers coming over the Mexican border are probably Catholic...

Tell that to the court that made it legal probable cause now.

Keep in mind this is the 5th Circuit, which includes Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, which tends to run rather conservative. I would not be at all surprised to see this appealed to the Supreme Court at some point. I’d love to hear Lehto weigh in, but I have a hard time seeing this upheld on further appeal.

Another thought is that they’re obviously reasonable suspicion because why would anyone support the police in America?

So.. uhm... is there anything in the US that is NOT “reasonable suspicion”?
I mean, you are allowed to have a gun, but say the rozzers pull you over and you have a gun? “HE’S GOT A GUN, FIRE AT WILL”.. But then again, NOT having a gun is mighty suspicious though, this guy is looking way too innocent.. “SHOOT HIM”..

As for pro-police bumper stickers, they apparently indicate that people are trying too hard to look like “good guys.”
Police/Sheriffs Association stickers are everywhere in Texas. People think it’ll get them out of a ticket because the cop will be appreciative of their donation. People are stupid.

I wonder what they think of the people that have the 11-99 Foundation plate frame. I heard years ago the CHP went easy on you if you had one. I can’t imagine that is actually the case.

Yeah.. I know it’s not that bad in reality though, but stuff like this makes me not feel like going on a vacation in the US. One reason is that I’ve got an English name, but I’m a resident of Norway and I sure as hell don’t speak English like a native.. I’ll imagine that’d be HIGHLY suspicious.

I didn’t read the whole thing, because … time. But …
… He also noticed air fresheners hanging throughout the car, several rosaries on the rearview mirror, and four bumper stickers showing support for D.A.R.E.1 and law enforcement. Tamez turned on his patrol lights and pulled over the Tahoe for speeding two miles over the limit ….
In sum, Officer Tamez had reasonable suspicion of criminal activity apart from the traffic violation …

Sorry, I thought you were quoting another article - I followed the link and then got sucked in and forgot to come back and edit my post.
The point is that it’s not just about what hte officer claimed gave him reasonable suspicion, but what the court agreed gave him reasonable suspicion. As it happens, if you read a bit further down, it appears that the court relied on precedent in regard to the air fresheners, so the headline in the news report is totally wrong. Bear in mind that the reasonable suspicion here was only used to extend a traffic stop by two or three minutes.
Really, I’m bemused by the whole case. Why on earth did the two crims give permission for the car to be searched? If they hadn’t, there were no grounds for the police to do so - and the perps must have known what would be found, surely?

Don’t hold your breath for an overturn. The Supreme court ruled that police don’t even have to know the law to pull you over and detain you. The ones they think you’re violating are good enough.
Welcome to the police state.

True, but with the whole Donald Trump for President and all that.. well.. let’s just say the media does a poor job of telling us damn commies in urope how lovely the US really is. My sisters been living in the US on and off for the last 5 years, and the only bad thing she ever saw was all the people driving drunk home from the bar in their brodozers.

Yea drunk driving is actually a problem.
Trump however is not. He’s a billionaire wasting his own money, eventually he’ll realize how bad of an investment he is.

Trump is a clown, nothing more nothing less. He’ll never be president.. but it DOES put the US in a bad light when he’s that high on the polls.

Well, I have a “Hoonigan Kill All Tires” license plate frame on the matrix. I think it won't help one bit.

And if you seriously don't want tickets, spend 5000-300000 on a 11-99 license plate frame. It donates to CHP officers who have fallen in the line of action. It apparently helps a lot

Here in CA, CHP 11-99 plate frames can work for getting you out of tickets, apparently. You do have to donate quite a bit to get one though.
