Thoughts on the vehicle overall:

Feels very solid, well put together, very “I’m an actual car, not a toy” unlike other subcompacts (e.g. Versa)

Pros:

+ Shifter feels wonderful, throws are direct and a million times more precise than other subcompacts I’ve driven.

+ Excellent visibility for a new model.

+ Enough power, engine sounds fairly nice.

+ Comfortable, albeit slightly too big (I’m 5’7, althetic 140 lbs) front seats, huge cargo area, large backseat

+Attractive gauges

Cons:

- I hate that the side camera, touchscreen radio, etc. are bundled with the EX trim. I want the alloys and the sunroof but not the needless tech like push start.

- No light colored interior option.

- Sits at over 3k rpm @ 70 mph - its a 6-speed, I feel like they could get that down a bit.

Vehicle identical to pictured. Any questions?

(Before anyone asks, no, I’m not selling my Volvo. Just bored after getting off work and decided to stop by local Honda dealership.)

I’m with you great car overall but revs way too high at highway speeds for a 6spd. The 6th gear should strictly be a big overdrive to get the revs around the 2200rpm/70mph mark.

Agreed - I feel like the only reason they did this is to net the CVT model better MPG over the stick.

I have no plans on picking up a new car but I want to swing my Honda and check out the accord.. Been meaning to for over a year now. That and the fit both seem like great cars.

For the $18k this dealer wanted (basically loaded, only thing it didn’t have was Nav) it seems more than reasonable. Feels like an excellent car.

Not bad at all, would make for a great daily driver.

Out of curiousity, have you driven and previous model Fits? I have an 08 and the lack of telescoping wheel drives me nuts.

Wait so you don’t want all the high tech stuff but you do want to be able to change the interior lights?

Too bad you can’t get leather with the manual :(

I agree with you on the tech shit.

I meant a light color palette, like beige or gray, rather than black.

I have not. According to the salesman this one’s wheel only tilts.

Another example of how being cheap can ruin a car. They could of made it telescope and added that $20 cost into the price of the car, and been better off.

The salesman thought I was in 4th - nope, it actually does sit over 3k at 70 mph. Crazy.

The Accord Sport is pretty great. It’s like a Civic Si that isn’t kinda crap.

Nope, sold it to someone in my family for $15.5k. Paid the rest of the negative equity myself.

Got an automatic Mazda2. It lasted all of two weeks before I drove by my now current ride, a 2005 Volvo S80, which I have fallen in love with, at a Kia dealership. It has his idea to turn around and take a look at it because he previously owned an XC70. I bought it the next day. (that was about 2.5 months ago)

I like it a lot.. Also enjoy that you can get it with a manual. I don't know how the n/a inline 4 is but people seem to like it.

It’s not as fun as the old 2.0 in the Si was, but it is much more usable for all the times when you’re not hooning around. The engines in the Si and the Accord Sport are slightly different, with the Si making more horsepower and the Accord making more torque, earlier on. Interestingly enough, while the redline on the Accord is 6900, compared to the Si’s 7000, the Accord will rev past it to fuel cutoff at 7500, when the Si starts bouncing at 7200, which makes it feel more Honda-y and more fun. It’s also, weirdly, the highest-revving engine you can currently get in a USDM Honda, which is sad, because 7500 is simply too low, because Honda.

Before I decided on my ST, I drove both the 4-door Si and the Accord Sport, since they’re both priced about the same, and I found the Accord to be a much better car overall, in all the boring ways you’d expect (build quality, ride, noise levels, comfort, etc.) along with, surprisingly, driving dynamics. It just felt that much more composed and balanced when driving it vigorously, making it less work to drive fast than the Civic, and since you’re not putting forth as much effort, it did more of the wonderful “C’mon, is that all you got? Stop driving and start hooning! I can take it!” quality that makes cars fun. An eagerness to be pushed combined with giving you the confidence to push it.

The Civic is a car that’s almost great in a really frustrating way. The Accord Sport is a great car that most enthusiasts completely ignore, because, you know, Accord.

Extremely well put. I’d star that reply if I could! This further solidifies my belief that a manual Accord sport is currently the best daily driver available for someone looking for a car that can take care of itself on back roads and still fit the kids in the back and their stuff in the trunk... And a new accord sport goes for under $25k! Some get discounted to $21k around me, TOTAL steal.

Or because there’s a size limitation. Remember, you need a larger cog to multiply the force. Larger cog needs larger case to contain it and that might not have fit into the car.

I went from a Volvo C30 to a Fit after a test drive. Honda gives you so much value for dollar. Nothing really compares.
