...the rear doors on the 200 series Volvo Estate are the same as used on the sedan. This gives them that strange droop on the top rear corner of the window frame, it’s bugged me all my life.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I was inspired to post the question after I published the story below on LaLD earlier and found a few hadn’t noticed this door feature.

That bugs me.

Luckily, I’m not really interested in the 3rd grade History teacher’s car.

Had two in the family, definitely noticed it. One of those “dammit, Sweden!” things.

Those are unique to the Armada, though.

The Saturn SW wagon shared its back doors with the sedan. When they updated the styling to be more rounded and bubbly, it got... interesting looking.

Saturn did that with the SL wagon.

Oh my bad, looked like the ute rear doors. We don't get the Amarda here in Australia, do I get let off?

Ew! So glad that wasn't sold here, that's the first time my eyes have suffered by seeing that.

Huh! You were just beaten to the punch by a minute! It’s horrible but much more noticable than the Volvo.

Yeah, it wasn’t so bad with the original design thanks to its boxiness.

Yeah that’s ok. The top and bottom of the frame are parallel at least, it’s that curve on the Volvo that bugs me. It dosen’t need to be there! I may have issues.

Toyota did the same with the fourth generation Camry wagon. The rear doors are from the sedan, however, it actually pulls off the look.

I’ve always noticed it. It never bugged me though. I always thought “clever Swedes!”.

OTOH - for some reason I”ve never noticed the Saturn wagons doing the same thing. Now THAT bugs me. Weird. Hypocrite.

Yeah that looks fine. I think my problem with the Volvo is the rest of it is so boxy and straight yet it has this little curve in the top center of its profile, it’s out of place from a design/asthetics point of view but makes manufacturing sense. Volvo did a great job hiding it with the blackout treatment they did on the window surrounds though.

Yes, I noticed. I drove a dark blue non-metallic 240 “Polar”. With it’s epic 2.0! And it’s interior wasn’t that spacious as one would expect.

Yeah, but I bought it while I was 26. With only one purpose: getting it to the North Cape in Norway.

We never made it.

Haha, indeed! We never made it because we never left! I bought this one with 3 friends, with the idea of driving it to the North Cape alright. But then one of us, a procurement-manager from a travel-agency (who spoke German and French fluently, pretty awesome while traveling!), wasn’t allowed to leave for a holiday as that business went totally through the drain at that moment. So then there were three. And then another one of us was struck with a disease, Infectious mononucleosis (Pfeiffer’s disease), and wasn’t capable of being up for over an hour. So then there were two. And a twist came: Not wanting to make such an epic trip with ‘just’ the two of us (as we did all the planning already with the four of us) we went to Thailand. Hahaha! Awesome stories about that trip ;-)

I sold the Volvo to my brother. He drove it for 4 years. And then sold it to a friend of mine. Who still drives it (over 10 years!!!). Epic car.

I have noticed it, and it bothers me quite a bit.

Not enough to deter me from a 240 wagon, but it’s a reasonable bother.
