I have never owned a brand new car, sure, some were so low mileage that they were practically new, but never a brand new one. At the moment two of my current cars are european, have air-suspensions and one of them is 11 years old. Here is a ranking of things that matter to me when looking for a used car.
1- Service Papers.
2- Is it armored?
3- Interior Condition/Originality
4- Exterior Condition/Originality
5- Color Combo.
6- The way the cars are arranged at their lot.
7- The way the salesperson is dressed (you shouldn’t tuck t-shirts)
8- Can I really afford it?
9- Maintenance costs.
10- Reliability.

That Allroad towing another Allroad is amazing. This is how trains are born.

If you are buying a luxury car in metropolitan Brazil, it is a good idea for it to be armored, my Range Rover is and so are many others around here.

The weird thing is that it only makes me want one even more.

Brazil? Oh that explains everything.
Carry on.

You shouldn’t tuck T shirts? Boy, have I been doing it wrong. “Let me show you this nice Ford we just got in”.

True story: I once considered buying an Allroad as my winter car, even though I knew full well how unreliable they are.
Luckily I thought better of that idea.

My list.
1. Is it cheap?
2. Is it cool?
3. Does it run?

So the thing you least care about is if it runs?

I’m still going to get an Allroad one day, and not one of the good ones.

I only trust polos, shirts and untucked t-shirts

Of those 3? yes
My rationale is
1. If I can’t afford it with cash nothing else matters.
2. If it’s not cool or interesting I don’t particularly care if it runs or not.
3. I prefer running, but I’m pretty decent with a set of spanners.

You’d have to disconnect the driveshaft to do so. Given how familiar that person would have to be with the mechanicals of those cars, I think they’d remember.

This was an ‘03 or ‘04 Allroad with the 2.7T and air suspension. The dealer was asking I think somewhere around $8000. Instead I bought a sorta-kinda more reliable ‘05 Grand Cherokee for $9700. I’ve still put some money into the Jeep but it’s been on little small things here and there like oxygen sensors, spark plugs & EGR valve. No crazy air suspension problems or removing the whole front of the car to do a timing chain job like I could’ve gotten into with that Allroad.

Yeah, I don’t wear Polo’s. Never liked them. I prefer my shirts with a button down collar, or a Hawaiian shirt or a T shirt. All tucked except for the Hawaiian.
