High pitched whining, doesn’t increase with RPM actually sounds like it goes away. Idle is a bit high not sure if it’s related though. When i had a PowerFC in idle is fine. Any ideas?

Vacuum leak or bad pulley perhaps?

When increasing engine speed don’t snap the throttle, increase slowly. It’s much easier to distinguish the noise that way and whether it changes at a specific speed. Also try power braking to see if that makes a difference. Stethoscope.

I did what you suggested and it is alternator related I believe. I managed to find that’s the area where the sound is coming from.

I think it’s related to a non-stock pulley that is on the alternator in this car. Trying to find a OEM one is proving to be difficult everyone only sells lightweight pulleys in kits or underdrive pulleys.

I think this pulley is smaller than stock as well so I might have been overrevving the alternator because at the autocross I did the weekend I took the video I was hitting fuel cut regularly.

IDK if this matters but I was messing with accessories in the car, not the AC but lights and the radio, and the more I turned on the louder the sound would get.

Definitely sounds like alternator to me. You could try removing the belt and running it, if the noise is still there you know it isn’t any pulley. While the belt is off rotate the pullies by hand and feel for any inconsistencies.

Hey, kind of irrelevant, but update us on some pictures of the Skyline! Hope you found the issue btw!

Right now i’m waiting on new bushings to arrive.

The issue was the intake. When I removed it and was running just MAF with no filter it was fine.
