Last week I discussed that we were looking to trade in my ‘09 535 for something with a third row and we ended up with a 2011 Acura MDX with all the bells and whistles. So here are a couple pictures.
Also my current DD the ‘09 FX50 in the background. My wife DD’s the MDX.

That is a handsome pair of cars you’ve got there! Love the FX50! How has owning that been? Also, fantastic garage!

You have a great looking garage. Are you going to get rid of the FX for something more sporty now that you have a larger SUV?

The FX50 has been supremely reliable and a great car to drive. Up until we traded in the 535 it was my wife’s DD. She still takes it whenever she wants, and I’m ok with that because I still really like the MDX.

Eh, I don’t know. The car has been greatly reliable and it has 81,000 miles on it. The ground clearance is nice when we have tons of snow (7ft in one weekend this winter). It’s a ton of fun to drive with the NA V8 too. I’ll consider it more when we get closer to 100k Miles, but otherwise I’m happy with it. I’m looking for an 06-08 Forester XT w/ a manual. So if DD is split between those two I’ll be set for a while. I put 12,000 miles on the 535 in 2 years.

It’s perfect for kids, not terrible for adults (for short trips) and there is a ton of usable space when folded flat. Other benefit is that there are three sets of anchors for car seats in the 2nd row, which is unusual, but awesome. Lends to additional flexibility as kids start to have friends that need booster seats and so on.

Garage is big, house it not proportional. But I don’t have any complaints.

I love the FX50, and honestly the MDX is awesome for its value and size. No it’s not fast, but it’s spritely. Also its a pleasure to drive.

Nice! The 2nd generation refresh of the MDX has a great, substantial look. Black interior?

Good to hear, how is the trunk space with the third row up? I always liked the MDX and my folks are looking for a three row SUV. Don't want something huge like a suburban so I'm thinking Q7/MDX.

The trunk space is still decent. I’d go with the MDX over the Q7 simply on price. Comparable Q7’s are outrageously priced. Although I like the looks of the Q7 and it is a bit longer.

I'm a big fan of the looks on the Q7, although it is noticeable larger. You're right about the price, pretty high on the Q7. Tough to find a nicely optioned CPO for around $40k. Next step is to find an MDX and check it out.

I think they went to a direct injection engine this latest model (I have the previous gen), and the intake valves on D.I. engines tend to get dirty very quickly. So keep that in mind as a maintenance issue down the road. Port injected are fine as the normal engine operation will keep the valves clean.

I'm likely gonna direct them towards the previous gen (the one you have). The interior on those are nice and I bet the prices are pretty good considering the new bodystyle is out.. My next door neighbor just bought one! Definitely looks a little bigger.
