Anyone who says the Miata was the first Japanese interpretation of a British roadster has clearly never hear of the pre-Z Fairlady.
Weird light because ferry car deck at sunset, but the paint was the most gorgeous deep navy blue I’ve ever seen. Wonderfully restored, and a driver! Yay for iPotato HDR or these would be even more washed out.
Nope, that’s not a filter, just low sun on a dirty phone lens. It’s like an old school grease filter!
Yup, this ride was part my commute for several years. Not sure there’s a more picturesque way to get to school... other than light aircraft perhaps.

Reminds me how the Subaru BRZ seems closer to a 240Z than an AE86. I’m amazed the dash and interior is in such good shape.

Oh yeah, the whole car was mint! Looked like it had had a full resto

I read that as “Made love to a lady this weekend.”

Well, that may or may not have happened too. But not to this particular lady haha

IMHO, iPhone’s HDR function washes out more colours than the regular camera unless you have decent lighting.
She looks gorgeous!!!

I’d also say that the Honda S500 was up there too.

Yeah the faux HDR is a pretty limited tool. But when I’m trying to just avoid over or underexposing something I've found can be very helpful. As for colors you always just nudge the saturation up a bit in post.

A very good point, I guess they just never took off because of a distinct lack of pop up headlights.

Possibly, either way I’d rather own either of these cars over a Miata any day of the year.

Even the days when it’s pouring rain and car is suddenly a sieve?

I have a neighbor with one of those. You should hear the lamentations when he needs a part.

Fauntleroy/Vashon run? (I love riding the ferries - took the cool new Tokitae up to Whidbey this weekend.) It’s pretty amazing Nissan went from the Datsun 2000 to the 240z in a single step.

I had 1600 roadster that was sadly too rusted to be worth fixing when I was 20. still had fun with it though.
A mistake alot of people make is that Datsun copied the MG-B. When actually it was released first. BTW-my vanity plate was—NOTA-MG.
