Max Read working for a blog? I didn’t realize they were starting to copy weathermen and women to get their names

Craggs and Read wrote, they could not possibly guarantee Gawker’s editorial integrity.
Lol, Gawker. Integrity? Like the integrity required to out a non-public figure? They’re keeping the piece of shit writer who wrote the piece.

Anyone who is still harping on “GamerGate” to make up for their inadequacies as a journalist probably doesn’t need to be employed as a journalist.

This is about ethics in tabloid journalism.

So basically, they fucked up a guys entire life so much that his children probably won’t look at him the same IF they can even see him anymore. But they’re so far up their own asses that they are concerned about breaches in the firewall of EDITORIAL. FUCKING. INTEGRITY. They published a fucking blackmail piece and ruined a guys life, but they aren’t going to touch that. Union comes first, I guess. Gotta prove a point to the man or something.
The initial story didn’t make me angry, but this shit does.

Kotaku have been a fucking joke long before that ever happened. That site has been full of bullshit clickbait, corporate shilling, pointless articles about irrelevant things that happened in Japan for the purpose of driving up pageviews, collusion and constant attempts to shoehorn identity politics into places where it is not needed nor wanted. There’s no way any self-respecting journalist would look up to that festering shitpile and feel inadequate,

So much this.
I also like how half their articles since have been about their internal power struggle, something that is literally not even close to newsworthy. I care about who Tommy Craggs is about just as much as I care about the editor of the National Inquirer...
People read GM sites for the content, a lot of it good and a lot of it terrible. Watering down their content with this crap can’t be helping them.

Advertisers such as Discover and BFGoodrich were either putting holds on their campaigns or pulling out entirely.
This is the only bit of info that you need to know from the entire story.
At the end of the day, it’s not so much about ethics or journalistic integrity or rival companie’s C-suits or even the number of sweet, sweet clicks a story gets.
Don’t fuck with the bread and butter. These guys did something that put what I’m assuming is a significant amount of advertising $$$ in jeopardy, at a company who’s sole source of income is advertising $$$.

I missed it when I first read that post, but Denton’s statement is awesome. He’s earned my respect, irrespective of whether I agree with his stances on other things. He is so polite in telling all the editorial staff that they need to grow up and realize they work for him. It’s just as much his livelihood and reputation, if not more so, than the people that work for him.
He also seems to now realize that the size of Gawker really doesn’t allow it to be just a random blog on the interent anymore. It has become a media/news outlet, whether they like it or not.
Most of these Gawker Media writers are too far up their own asses to realize just how pathetic they are. I hope Denton having to overstep his bounds to protect his company opens their eyes. He’s not doing it to be shitty, he’s doing it to save all of their asses. He sees the poor reputation his writers have given the company, and he’s hopefully ready to fix it.

Too bad they resigned because they feel corporate interests are infringing on their journalistic integrity, rather than feeling guilty about publishing that garbage article.
