I’ve been looking for a cheap car with little work needed, to either flip or drive, since I get a discount on parts through my work. I’m going to see this later this week, it looks too clean to pass up
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It’s also the first time I’ve ever thought a Sebring looked good. I may be crazy, but I love the two tone, the wheels, and the foglights. What does Oppo think? It “sometimes stalls unless you drive it all day and then it’s fine” as well as a leaky front strut

I’ve always actually liked this version of the Sebring. People dump on old Chrysler a lot, but we had a 1993 Dodge Caravan for years when I was a kid-teenager and that thing was a trooper. Only major thing that ever went wrong with it was the fuel pump. Only reason we ended up selling it was it was hard to get it up our icy long hill driveway in the winter.....dead reliable that van. If the body is good and the mechanicals are sound, I would say go for it! :)

Pretty decent as long as it isn't the JXi/convertible. I prefer the 2nd gen Stratus/Sebring, great cars except for the engine sludge issue in the 2.7 V6.

Yeah I feel like the 1995 and earlier ones they made with Mitsubishi had to have been pretty good, I mean I still see tons of them driving around

Maybe fix it and flip it. But for the love of god don’t drive that.

Haha the intention is to fix and flip, my heart lies with rear-drive Swedes and Bavarians. Just an automotive means to an end, that I still looks quite good

All the quality issues of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and none of the turbo. PASS.

It’s a DSM, expect lots of electrical issues, and lots of rust. The sunroof will probably leak, but not so much that it’ll be a problem. When I backed out of a parking spot after it had been raining, shifting it into drive resulted in a lapfull of water, but otherwise I didn’t notice. Impressive if it does have a 60/40 rear seat, mine didn’t so it may be a first year or two option only. Mine was absolutely full of rust underneath, but the body looked good, so that’s another thing to watch out for. Drove nice, but it’s heavy. The weight makes it good in the snow, but it’s not so quick, and if someone cuts you off on the highway you’ll have to work to build your speed up again. Spark plugs are a bitch if they weren’t done yet. If they were, the car’ll die before you need to do them again.
That being said, it’s an $800 car. The internet is full of information on common problems and quick fixes. If you can get 10-20k more miles out of it, you’re miles ahead finacnially than buying anythign more expensive. Mine got me through college and to my first real job for a few months. If it didn’t leave me stranded at work one day (another electrical problem), where I had a regular paycheck and was tired of the electrical gremlins, I would have fixed it and continued driving it. I didn’t even bother trying to chase down the short, I just bought another (much more lightly) used car, and the Sebring was full of rust. My dad thought it was either the fuel pump, or a wire going to the fuel pump, and since they had an access panel, it may have been an easy fix. But I didn’t care, I was done with it. Junkyard picked it up and paid half of what I bought it for. When it was all said and done, 20,000 miles for $400 wasn’t too bad a deal.

Isn't it closer to the galant platform and also a totally different engine?

Rust isn't really an issue here but I'll keep and eye out for it, but I think it would be more of s flip than keeping it to drive. I'm currently driving an S10 Blazer I got for $600 and it's still going a year later. I'm a big fan of sub-$1000 cars haha. Those things are good to know though, thank you

I don't really have any interest in 850s....I like volvos until they switched to front wheel drive, generally speaking. I have huge want for a 240 or a 740/940 wagon though

I sold my 1990 760 Turbo wagon in April for $3K. Value seems to be going up, since I bought it - from a dealer - in 2007 for $2500.

That's pretty awesome, the 740 turbos are getting kinda crazy around here. They don't turn up very often, and when they do they're sold within a day or two

I know, I don't want a Sebring at all, it's just to fix and sell

Yes and no. The Eclipse itself is based on the Galant. From the B-pillar-forward, the Avenger/Sebring coupe is pretty much an Eclipse. Doors, mirrors, and interior (except center console) are shared as well. While the Eclipse (and Talon) are 4cyl only, the Avenger/Sebring coupe have an optional V6. So think of them as stretched Eclipses with V6s.

It’s okay to like the look, though. You could possibly do something like this:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/pics-o…
except with a Sebring front. I think you’ll need the radiator support, and the obvious parts like headlights/hood/fenders, but most of it is bolt-on from what I’ve read.

Wow incredibly clean looking. For $800 you really can't go wrong.
