Saw a vintage run today.
It’s always alarming when you see cars that you remember seeing when they were in daily use, like this Mk1 Fiesta.
For the benefit of American viewers, there were a couple of yours:
One blue pick up thing
An old Buick, complete with drab green paint by way of contrast to the norm, which is to be restored to within an inch of the car’s life
One Chalmers Detroit, which is a new one to me
We had an Alfa
You could tell it was an Alfa, because the pedal says so. Top tip if you ever get to drive an (extremely expensive) Alfa like this: that little pedal in the middle is not for going slower. Note that there’s literally a footwell.
Talking of pedals, these are from a Model T. There are, reassuringly, three. Less reassuringly none of them does what you would expect.
Most veteran and classic cars are heavily restored. Not this Minerva. It looks as if it’s had nothing but routine maintenance from new and wears its rust and tatty paint with pride.
Radiator caps provide a means of expression of individual identity. Here’s a baby’s dummy, just because.
