Do you try to drive as ignorantly as possible? Or are you just that ignorant?

Driving home from work, three lane wide road, 45 speed limit, most people driving 50. Mercedes SL with Cali plates, driving in the far left lane, texting, driving 15 mph... People are honking, flashing lights as they fight past this moron. His response, flashes high beams, honks back, flipping people off.

Was halfway tempted to leave a jeep imprint on his Benz.

Greetings from the Bay Area.

To answer, yes and no. Your man, there, is an extreme case. Normally, however, he should be doing 15 over the limit while still driving and texting. That said, dipshittedness is not CA-specific. When I was in PA and NJ there was all sorts of shitty driving.

OH NO. California most certainly is that awful. I didn’t realize how bad California was until I came back from Tulsa where people make small mistakes but you feel like they don’t mean it and here in CA you have people driving on the shoulder to get from three cars behind you to three cars in front of you. Some even use the merge-on ramp to get in front of you in traffic.

ESPECIALLY THE TEXTING. HOLY GODDAMN SHIT. I didn’t know how I stood driving to high school in California a year and never honked at anyone. (Maybe it’s cause I was That Awful Driver)

So if you ever come to California, welcome and have a nice stay, unless you tell us of the mistakes we make when we drive, then I’ll have to burn your eyeballs out with our high beams and blow your ear holes out with our horn.

Just this morning I had my signal on to enter a right turn lane. Lady in front of me slows to a literal crawl with enough room for me to parallel park a pick-up truck between her car and the car in front with no problem. She also happens to be blocking enough of the turn lane for me to enter and make my turn. I give a quick honk of the horn, nothing malicious, and the bitch has the nerve to slam on her brakes. I hit mine and happened to yell “you’ve got to be fucking serious” with my windows open. She has the audacity to answer with “yes I am serious” and proceeds to sit there, blocking the turn lane until the light turns green. Needless to say she pissed me off to the point were I was yelling some very nice things out the window to her. People like that need to get their heads out of their self-righteous asses

I lived there for 14 years, it’s a matter of numbers. There are so many people that the probability that 1 in 10 are dip shits is pretty good.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I have read that (some) women have a harder time judging distance. I think men are better because they evolved as hunters and women have better peripheral vision to spot predators. I have experienced this with my own wife when trying to get her to park the cars closer in the driveway. She thinks she is about to hit the car in front, when there is 8 feet between them.

I still haven’t gotten my license and I’ve been driving for nine months. Take it from another person trapped in Cali, the struggle is real. I'm amazed anyone manages to actually pass they're driving test living here.

Also a favorite of mine commuting into San Francisco—the hanging back 5 car lengths in slowly moving traffic so you can text. I actually got mad enough to yell at a girl doing this. To no effect, of course. I’ve noticed that the latest trend is for people who text to hug the line towards the shoulder, I guess they think it’s better than hitting someone head-on as they text. They’re probably right about that, but it’s not going to do the bicyclists any favors. I’m sure the police will start picking up on this behavior and deal with it appropriately, by tasing them senseless writing them nice big tickets. For God’s sake, people just drive.

I'm not in CA, so for whatever rule of math... 1 in every 1.1 people I come across with CA plates, sucks at driving, and in a major way.

This drives me up a wall. If I see someone do this on a multi lane road I will pull into the “spot” on principal alone.

Unfortunately, I was going to make a right and she was going straight otherwise I probably would have done that. I should have just laid on the horn for the minute we were sitting there.

My other favorite is when people with poor depth preception think you’re tailgating them, even though you aren't. So they brake check you, and it doesn't effect you because you're that far away... I like to proceed by explaining to these people just how close I can get..
