Look around. Try to find some cyclo cross racing. If anything, go watch it for a while. Theres beer and bacon and cupcakes and if you live in a rainy area, quite a bit of mud and more beer. I’m trying to get ready to give it a go. Why not. There’s beer.

It’s almost ‘Cross season? That’s impossible, it was 100 degrees today, ‘Cross only comes around when it’s 20F and snowing!
Kidding aside, Cyclocross is awesome.

...and with CA being threatened with El Nino this winter, it could be one helluva cross season...riders may have to wear a snorkel...I hope...

I used to live in Northern California and did the Sacramento CX series every year. What a hoot. Now my cx bike has fenders and a tail light and I ride it to work. Anyway the mountain biking is way too much fun in Montana to work on power and aerobic fitness for cx season, which we have like two races in the whole state and one little series in Missoula.

I think I’m going to participate this year! I’ll get some cyclocross tires for my Nishiki. Who cares if my bike weighs almost 30 pounds! It looks like fun!

Yeah I understand your problem. I wound up living in one of the hot spots for it in Colorado. So starting first week September, there’s an event at least every weekend until December. If my schedule allows, I will be in on 8-10 of them.

only 1/3 of the field are there for the win. the middle third for the fun of racing, and the last third are in costume.
