So you know those moments when you are a complete fucktard to yourself? Totally happened to me, and happens more often than I would like. I had a very long drawn out series of appointments at the VA yesterday and as such had to fast for 12 hours etc (NBG to my Ramadan peeps who just had Eid, right). Now this is not really a big deal either except when certain people begin stressing you out at 5AM everyday; people being Chihuahuas and one human being.

Okay, backstory laid, we had my mother in law’s car at the house as we had planned on dropping of the FoST for a new key cut, repairing kerbed rear wheels, and window tint. Stressful morning was stressful and I backed out of the garage into my MIL’s car because I had forgotten it was there and instead of double checking while backing up I just assumed my driveway was clear.

Well, the damage was minor and cosmetic, some paint and filler will be needed in addition to unbolting the rear hatch on the FoST and shimmying it back to center so that there is no excessive panel gap and just some paint on the MIL’s car. Sadly this was money intended on paying off a student loan and also installing the front steering rod and new steering damper/shock and the rear driveshaft conversion to u-joint/replacement so that i could install my new 3” lift spring and shocks on the Disco.

Tl; DR many sads, me am stupid/lazy. Back into parked RED car, now no budget for finishing Discovery II mods until Fall/Winter.

Can I get some automotive/gif love for cheering up?

Sorry about the damage, and the Chihuahuas. The universe can be a cruel place sometimes, but I find it helpful to remember that the Sagaris is a real car that got made, and it makes me feel a little bit better. I hope it makes you feel better too.

I used to park the Cherokee in the same spot at my parent’s house, facing up the street away from the main road (they live on a corner lot). I always would just reverse onto the main street and then drive forward when leaving. One day my mom had people over and my dad and I, sensing there was too much estrogen in the house, left to get some lunch. Sure enough I started the Cherokee, chucked it in reverse and then proceeded to go absolutely nowhere as I backed into a Plymouth van parked directly behind me. Dad gave me his patented “you big dummy” look, and after inspecting the damage we shrugged out shoulders and continued on our lunch run, albeit in a different direction.

Shit happens. No use in being bummed about it.

Wife knows, wants it fixed and panel gap irritates the ever-loving you know what out of me.

I have a really bad panel gap on the front left fender of my Disco from someone hitting it while I was either in Afghanistan or Japan during the tsunami victim search. Hit and ran while parked in front of my cop father’s house. Cracked the bumper and pushed up the left side of it like a curled lip. I plan on fixing that when I snorkel the ole girl.

Right!?!?!?

My dad used to own a body shop back in my youth (plus grew up around and was a porter at a wholesale dealership - the one with a their logo on my new car), wish that things had gone better there, business-wise but oh well. So I have that curse of being able to see difference in paint and panel gap on anything.
