Planning to go look at a 2013 Suzuki GW250 with only a couple thousand miles on it for $2500.
Fuel injection, disc brakes, upright riding position, near new, with enough power/gearing to handle the highway but not enough to get a newly minted rider like me in trouble. I’m excited even if the looks aren’t exactly my thing.

Very nice starting bike. Should be perfect for letting you learn without killing you when you are a bit ham fisted.

Looks great and sounds like a great deal. I’m always surprised at how many used bikes are out there with almost no miles on them.

When I got my first bike, a bunch of friends told me to skip the 250cc’s if I plan on getting on the freeway. I went and got a GS500F.
That was some good advice.

I was looking at 500s, but this can do 90, and from all reviews is fine on the highway to 70+ without vibration and with some power left for passing.

I hate that methodology. How about you let the person buy something they feel comfortable with rather than up sell them. Im not specifically directing this at you but when I was looking for a starter bike I wanted someone under 400 and all the guys I knew told me to look in the 6-750 range and I was just like thanks but yeah im not doing that. Im not crazy

My first bike is an 82 XJ1100 off craigslist for $1k. Lower miles ran but needed a starter rebuild and a front tire. The thing should be a blast, haven’t registered it yet.

I like it. Think I’d be looking at SV650s, though I’m not sure what those are selling for these days. While I agree that too much power is bad for a new rider, having enough power to quickly scoot away from a dangerous spot is really safe too. The SV has a torquey twin that makes it very user friendly because being in the right gear isn’t as important, and most riding is just rolling on/off throttle with less shifting. Simplifies the riding a bit. This bike looks plenty good, though I imagine you’d grow out of it fairly quickly.
Also naked standards are great. Framesliders minimize damage if you drop it, and upright seating is more approachable.

You will either love it, out grow it after a bit of learning, or just stop. Any way, just ride it.

to be entirely fair, it was also a GS500. that thing barely has any more power, and its about as beginner bike as you can get
