I mean seriously, there have been a few good deals but nowhere near what Amazon hyped it up to be.

Yeah I was hoping for actual discounts on things we would want. Not Amazon is emptying its unused items for sort of cheap..

I was hoping for super cheap laptops, because I am fucking tired of my Lenovo.

Wait until HP has a clearance sale on new or refurbished stuff, hell even the Microsoft store has good deals sometimes.

Eugh, never buying HP again. I’ve had a bad track record with them (including my sister having a tablet PC that fried itself not once, but three times).

I probably should have clarified that you should buy HP business branded computers. After being in IT for long my mind always jumps right to business computers. The business stuff costs a little more, but they’re made with solid parts that last and the warranties are killer. We’re HP only where I work and we still have laptops from 2008 running.

Try the Canadian version, literally a tenth of the things.

You aren’t missing out on much, they’re selling a lot of shit you can buy at a mall smartphone stand or a dollar store.

I got one of the HD Fires as Android 5.1.1 bricked my brilliant Nexus 7 (2012). So I too advantage of it, but once I saw all the watches Amazon was selling it felt alittle sleezy....

I got excited at first. Then I realized it seemed like articles kept saying “more sales than Black Friday”. After I read it for the 500th time, it clicked “more sales” not “better sales”. Then I saw on the prview list that popped up they wouldn’t give brand names, and the list included goddamn baby wipes. I know baby wipes are expensive, but you’re not going to advertise a massive 20 yr sale with baby wipes.
I’ve seen some killer deals on Reddit (with a healthy dose of racism and misogyn of course /s) for computer monitors, but they’re all UK sales. So I was disappointed.

I went and looked at the US one for fun, pretty bad too

My workplace uses HP EliteBook laptops. I was quite surprised that it we were using HP's honestly, as we had previously used Dell forever. For what the are, they're not bad little machines. They've been pretty reliable, it's just the shitty network and the security that slow this thing down.

There were definitely some seriously good deals on some of the stuff. But I didn’t have the patience (or time) at work to catch too many of them. That 128gb SD card definitely was a steal. Along with the $99 1080p monitor. There were others as well.

the countdown clock and limited supply certainly worked to catch my buddy who quickly bought a thing... only to later realize it doesn’t ship for an age

I wonder how Amazon is going to handle all of the criticism and complaints tomorrow. I’d chalk up Prime Day as a massive failed attempt at a new corporate holiday.

If you got one in time they had a few chromebooks and a few sub $200 laptops.

It could never have been as good of deals as black friday because some manufacturers make product versions or packages specifically for black friday. There were/are a few good deals but they sell out quiiiick.

The low quantity of sale items is insane. I’m just imaging a warehouse manager strolling through a warehouse alongside someone who controls pricing looking for old items with 2 or 3 of them left in stock. It looks like they’re taking as much old or barely sold product and slashing it down a few bucks to make massive profit.

I agree. They really hyped this up as “more deals than black friday” but it sure doesn’t feel that way.

Check Walmart. They are running a similar sale day to compete against Amazon. I don’t know for sure if you can find a better deal but it might be worth checking.

Amazon doesn’t make any profit.
