Today I was driving behind an Audi A6 and saw:
-a thing not before seen by me and
-a thing rarely seen.
The thing rarely seen? The driver was indicating punctiliously in an Audi.
The new thing? He was using fancy sequential indicators. They began with one orange LED on the side of the light nearest the middle and then continued steadily until the outside edge was reached. Stop and repeat every second or so.
Just like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
No, you’re not getting them in America. It’s been decided that they’re Naughty and Illegal.

Illegal on an Audi, but not on a Mustang?

I remember the last time I signaled, it was on a Thursday. I think this was it:

You know what would be kind of cool? If they had them go around the perimeter of the tail light all the way and then had them fade out after the turn

You may be confusing Audi drivers with BMW drivers. Turn signals are apparently very expensive options on beemers and so most owners do not check that in the option box.

Correct. I live in a Mustang free zone so don’t see those but the explanation is here

I guess the stangs sequential are different because they are separate lamps? That is silly

BMW driver here. I can confirm that turn signals are in fact standard equipment.
The sense of entitlement to not use one’s turn signals is a no-cost option.

They’re legal because they’re larger units. Which is also inane

I use my turn signals. When my Audi's not in the shop.

It seems to be that the first one that lights on the Mustang covers the regulation. Since they all don’t light at the same time, they’re going by total area of one light on its own. So, I guess since one of the Audi lights is so tiny, it won’t pass. But, maybe it passes when they’re all lit simultaneously, or something. It is fucked up.

Confession time: I don’t like those Audi sequential indicators.
