Is there a way to adjust the door gap without removing half the front clip? The gap is off on my truck and it’s causing the door to rub when you open the door and it’s starting to rust because of it. I can’t access the hinge bolts because the fender is in the way. I know what your thinking just remove the fender then. I peek under the hood and it doesn’t look like there is an easy way to remove just the fender at all.

As you can see the door is sagging almost a 1/4”

The striker is all wore out because of it.

With the door half open and you can see it’s rubbing. I want to fix the rust but I don’t want it to happen again.

You can tell the gap is way bigger at the top than it is at the bottom.

I don't know of any way that doesn't involve removing things and using shims.

The problem is the door, not the fender. My dad had a 79 Blazer that did the same thing. The heavy doors would sag over time. Can you loosen where the door is bolted to the body and shim out the bottom hinge?

Yeah you would have to do what they say below, are the hinges sagging? I had an 85 step side, last of the older cab type, I can’t remember what the hinges were like or if you could swap them.

That’s pretty standard on old GM products. Replacing the hinges, or at least the hinge bushings, is the only way I know to fix it. I’m surprised you can’t get to the hinges when the door is open but I don’t know much about trucks.

Came here to say hinge bushings. Though they sould be pretty straight-forward to replace, the hinge IIRC is removable with the door fully open.

Start with bushings. They are likely wore out.

Like others have said, you’ll want to replace the bushings and/or hinges altogether to fix this. The truck is a mid-80s C10, right? If fender removal is necessary (can’t recall at the moment) it shouldn’t be that hard. About five or six bolts along the top of the fender, a couple along the back where the door is, the bolts holding in the inner fender-which you shouldn’t have to remove. After that, it’s just removing your headlight and light shroud which should only be screws. Behind those I think you will find more bolts. I can’t remember which side the antenna is on, but that shouldn’t be that much of an issue
