My new engine that I bought from eBay arrived to its new home on Tuesday. It contains everything that it was supposed to have so I have no complaints regarding the seller. But when I has checking out the engine I noticed that it is very oxidized from everywhere. And of course all nuts and bolts are already pretty stuck. It’s not an old engine as it was made in 2008.

So why did I decide to buy an engine from New Hampshire? I did know where it was located from but I just didn’t thought this. It must have seen tons of salt in the engine bay. I should know that salt is bad for the engine too.

It even has an electric block heater but that’s probably not very useful here as we have different voltage.

Many engine depots don’t store their engines covered or even inside. When we got our RB26 in, the downpipe was rusted on. Some liquid wrench fixed that. Not abnormal.

That’s a good engine choice.

I tried to remove the downpipe remains from the exhaust manifold but studs were really tightly stuck. The hammer and wrench method just wasn’t enough. Eventually I removed the whole exhaust manifold but the bolts were quite stuck in the head.

I wanted to see the valves as I was thinking that I might even have bought a flooded engine. Luckily the valves didn’t any signs of water exposure.

Sadly, it’s not for my Z. Going in a buddy’s R33 GTR. And soak it with liquid wrench, let it sit, try again the next day.

Did the old one in the R33 explode?

I saw one nice ‘72 Z car in last Friday’s gathering. It has a nicely detailed RB26DETT (which should be street legal here) and it looks really nice. Since that picture it has received new color for wheels and an air suspension set.

Nope, the R33 was a fully built drag car that’s getting converted back to street spec. In a few months when what the drivetrain is going in to is complete, I’ll make a post about it. It’s going to be amazing.

It sounds like that your friend will have a loose RB26 laying around...
