Buy a bimmer.

Be a douche awesome and enjoy the pinnacle of unreliable sophisticated German automotive engineering

So now that I’ve completed Step 1, does anyone have any tips for Step 2? A friend recommended that I get a dedicated digital tire pressure gauge accurate to at least 0.5 psi. Any more suggestions?

0.5psi? HA you need it down to .05 psi. and not a .01 off

Step 3: Wait for something to inevitably fail. Spend some amounts of money to fix it.

No worries. I’ve been meaning to thank you since I actually bought it yesterday and your Carfax sealed the deal.

I believe your next step is to begin posting on BMW boards about your plans to stance it and give photo examples of what it may look like when finished. This will allow you to learn just how indignant you should be when anyone says anything about your car which goes against your personal feelings for the car. (I hate stance, but that trolling of bmw owners was funny).

Replace all the plastic cooling system components, right now. If it’s automatic, service the transmission unless it’s been done recently.

Also might want to get a BMW TIS off eBay.

Also if you use the roundel to close the hood, you don’t get grease spots on the hood where your hands touch.

I’ve owned 8 German vehicles...... ain’t nothing sophisticated about them and the term “German Engineering” is the biggest trap/fib in the car world.

... but they were good cars for the most part when completely error free. E39 is very nice. E60 is Satan and will murder your wallet
