You’re driving down the highway in your car. You see that the highway divides into ‘cars only’ and ‘cars + trucks.’ This is just one moment in the linguist trouble of the car/truck dichotomy.

Naturally, you, in your far-from-normal car, are allowed in the ‘cars only’ section. The highway is concerned with big truck trucks like 18 wheelers.

But do you think of your car as a small thing in the truck category? Or do you think of it as a big thing in the car category? Do some cars blend from one to the other?

Are cars trucks?

1. I think of mine as a small truck, not a trucky car. However, to the anti-anything-but-stripped-out-work-truck people who don’t get why I would buy a crew cab short box, I explain it: Don’t think of it as a truck with limited capabilities, think of it as a higher, rugged, off-road capable 4-door sedan with a massive, hose-out trunk.

I just wanted to make my point that not all trucks have beds. I think its silly to pretend that only pickups are trucks. Im mostly telling you cause im tired or trying to convince my wife that its okay to call my cruisers a truck.

If vans are trucks, the cruiser is a truck. If not, the cruiser isn’t a truck. Maybe we should just screw the grey area thing altogether:
