I had to look that up. Never seen that before. Wikipedia you're a wonderful thing.

You made me sad. :(

Why’s that? Because Porsche themselves actually made this?

Of course you do! It belonged to Herr Porsche himself!

As much as I love it, this car doesn’t really work, but I’ve always thought it would have made a cool 4X4. I don’t know why.

I think the Panamera actually got some design-features from this one. It was Ferdinand Porsche’s personal 928, a gift for his 70th birthday IIRC. I’d drive that withouth any doubt. It’s odd. A bit weird. But got that lovely 5.0 V8.
It’s not Troutman & Barnes though.

I should ask Hans Lapine about it. I wonder how his dad liked it. I can imagine with that motor and stretched wheelbase it was a nice cruiser. Looks-wise, it can’t hold a candle to the T&B. Maybe if it was an earlier 928.

I did tell you I once owned a 928S, right? It was an epic, epic car...
How’s Hans doing? Already have an interview planned?

That’s something I do remember. What color was yours?
I haven’t contacted Hans again, but I plan to. I’d like to do a profile on him. Maybe he’d let me come to the VW design offices.

Granat rot! But there wasn’t much color left, the paint was in a terrible condition. I had it for hoonin’.
That would be some trip/profile/piece! Hope he sees it that way as well.

That’s a great color. I bet the patina was nice. That’s how you want a hoonmobile. That really was an epic car. What was the interior? Tan?

Nope, dark purplish, full leather (even the dash). And a doglegged manual. And a working A/C. And, on the Nordschleife, a fuel consumption of over 50 liters/100 km. It was glorious. I even had several people to pay for the trip on the Ring if they could sit next to me. Ring Taxi!

That’s awesome. That is a lot of gas. That’s like 6 mpg, I think. I still would have paid for a trip. Or, maybe half a trip.
Jobjoris

That’s over 10 years ago, I think one round was about 14 euros back then. And 10 liters of gas.
Jonee

07/13/2015 at 15:34 | 1 |
It takes me weeks to go through ten liters of gas in my cars.
Jobjoris

07/13/2015 at 16:59 | 1 |
And that isn’t caused by the fact your cars won’t start or something??? Those AMC’s of yours wouldn’t be actually known to be of the economical kind?
Jonee
> Jobjoris
07/14/2015 at 18:15 | 1 |
Them not running sometimes is definitely part of it. The AMC’s with that straight six are not thrifty on gas, no. And the Pacers are so heavy, they need the fuel. But, the Le Car is a gas sipper. It barely uses any.

Neither does that 100NX of yours. How’s that one doing?

It’s a hoot, I really like it for some reason. It’s been great with those t-tops off in the L.A. sun. I’m going to do a Le Car - NX comparison post at some point.

I told you I met a guy with a YA-66, didn’t I? Has a normal 2-door 66 as well. Both have his company name on the side but these will be used for footage with the GoPro!

No, that’s awesome. Did you get a picture of every car on that street? They all look amazing.

Well, I did a very slow-receiving post about this on Oppo . Was awesome, these guys with all their classic Ferraris, Maseratis, Alfa, Lancias and one small BMW were on a tour.
I have a small video of this as well, I’ll see if I can get that online somehow.

What a cool thing to run into. That seems so European and not just because of the cars. They do classic car tours here, but they’re usually not too intense when it’s cars like those. Except for the BMW, I guess.
Jobjoris

And I never look for those things, I really just run into it. Did the track of the Targa Florio as well that week.
Jonee

07/24/2015 at 00:18 | 1 |
Wow, that’s cool. Is the whole route still drivable? Does it looks like the Targa Florio?
Jobjoris
> Jonee
07/24/2015 at 04:41 | 1 |
Was actually kind of hard to get the actual route (they used in the last real ones) but I found it alright. And that rental-Panda was glorious. All kinds of lights on the dash flashing. Had the time of it’s life. And best part was that NO ONE ELSE was driving it. I just CAN’T imagine that, can’t understand why the Italians won’t promote/cultivate (is this correct English?) it more?
Jonee
> Jobjoris
07/24/2015 at 23:24 | 1 |
A rental Panda seems perfect, actually. If you couldn’t do it in a Ferrari, it should be a Panda. I bet it was the most excitement that car ever had.
Yeah, I'm also surprised it's not more publicized. I guess they don't want people driving like maniacs.
Jobjoris
> Jonee
08/08/2015 at 16:33 | 1 |
Haha, that could be it, that part about those maniacs. But it’s not just that because you can’t control the interwebz and there’s little to be found about this on that at all.
Speaking of maniacs: last day in Italy a local here tried to overtake me on my left side on his scooter. While I was turning left. God I love that country...

Hilarious. Driving in Italy is truly a big part of the fun. How was the trip? How did you enjoy Torino? Did you run into any more epic cars besides the R5?
