Went to the gym for the first time in a couple months or so, same upper body workout I usually do. (I know, I know bad Jkm). It takes about 30 minutes usually, Except about halfway through I got a pukey taste in my mouth and started to feel super hot and slightly lightheaded, nonetheless I still finished it. I chose not to have a scoop protein powder in a jug of water afterwards, since I already had a pukey taste in my mouth. Is this semi normal, anybody else have this happen before?

S4 for your time.

Normal, yesterday was my first day back in the gym in a while. Tried lifting what I was at a few months ago and struggled.. Barely managed to finish my workout. Then I ran 2.5 miles because I hate myself. I slept like a baby at least!

I don’t go to the gym, but I’ve had that happen while running when I’m just getting back into it. I’ve actually gotten halfway home and had to stop to puke, too. I think for me it was a blood sugar problem, your body is a lot less efficient at figuring out how to get what it needs when you're adjusting (or re-adjusting) to a workout. And I'm a lot smarter now about easing off when I don't feel right and just trying again another day. You probably just need to get used to the gym again.

Would you say it was almost like a metal taste? If so its something that happens randomly when working out.

My old track coach used to tell me that vomit is just weakness leaving the body, so by his logic you're fine! Maybe you should try working out too!

But I think you should just go 75% the first week or so and then get back up to 100% so you don’t end up hating yourself!

Um.. take this with a [large] grain of salt. ‘Cause ymmv.

First, don’t fret. You’re prolly young. All good. Bodies aren’t stupid - that have their own intelligence, rhythms, and patterns. Violate those, and you’re fucking the chicken. Witness jet lag, water deprivation (because we’re too busy on a hot day), etc.

No judgement here...just reflection on what you said. What did you eat/do the night before? What was your attitude when entering the gym? More coffee than usual coming up days before (heat producing) or did you have a really oily meal the night before creating reflux today?

Don’t fret if it goes away. (If not, seek advice from those you trust.) Just notice everything that might have produced it. Keep a journal if you must of what you eat and how you feel. They didn’t invent Yoga and alternate diets because they sucked.

And if you want to follow the advice of a screwy internet commenter, chop ginger into pieces, blend in good water, strain and drink when having problems. (Cut with juice from whatever you want if it’s too spicy - because it *is* spicy.) That, in my experience, has kicked multiple stomach problems in the teeth.

No, that is not normal at all, it sounds like dehydration to me. If it happens again, take a break for a few minutes and drink something.

Nah, it was a pukey taste but nothing was coming up.

Thanks for the advice,

Had egg and rice a couple hours before with a peach afterwards, I don’t drink coffee at all so that’s not an issue. I’ve been working out for a few years and this has never happened before, so I got a bit concerned.

Idk... I am a swimmer, for my high school. We spend nearly three hours in the pool 6 days a week from the beginning of November to the middle of February. We do lift weights and do dry land stuff, but I have never expirenced this.
