Nothing depreciates quite like NASCAR parts. Also, RACE CHICKENS.

Eatmon’s Ebay store sells two things: NASCAR parts and chicken eggs.

All of these Titanium valves for dimes on the dollar... but then I’d have to get springs...and then new rockers...

Why do NASCAR teams get rid of these parts? Some of these have only been used for one race or one race weekend? These con rods were supposedly $2300 new and are discarded after one weekend?

Would there be any downsides to putting these in your own motor assuming they are the correct size?

The biggest downside is that the benefit would be negligible at relatively low RPMs. You aren’t going to feel that weight or strength difference until 6500-8000 RPM. And why run half kilo rods when the pistons aren’t going to be nearly as relatively light. But then you build the engine so it can actually get that high in the revs (single plane intake, high flow exhaust, high flow fuel pump and carb), and the thing is going to idle horribly.

But you could tell people you have a “nascar engine”

The cost of a single race weekend is astronomical compared to swapping out some parts, so most items are on a service life schedule and are going to be changed out no matter what. It’s better to spend a little more up front than let a failed part ruin a potential win.

If you have an 8,000rpm small block, when would you be idling besides the moment you start it up? If you have that, in your street car, you had better never *NOT* be hooning!

I can’t think of names at the moment but there some guys out there building street motors out of Nascar parts. As StoneCold mentions, streetable is a relative term.
