I'm usually one of the first to caution against the "superman" scheme...

I’m not. In fact, I think it’s fucking stupid how all of the American marques refuse to let you combine a red interior with a blue exterior. I want to configure a blue ATS with the red interior, you fucks!

I just remember configuring a Blue 335i with the red interior... it did not look well.

Kinja'd!!!

Mostly it doesn’t work when both are very vibrant hues. In the 488 above, the sort of muted blue goes well with the rich-but-not-bright red. On this car, both are fighting for your attention and it ends up looking like a toy.

Hahahahahahahaha

It was indeed the E92 that scared me away from that combination. A few people on forums and such tried it, and it just always looked a bit silly.

I even just posted a picture of a similar car to make a point to another commenter.

Haha, personally I like it best in fox red (a little darker than the standard coral red) with a darker blue like Interlagos, Lemans at the lightest.

That’s what I was saying to Axial; it works well when it’s two fairly sedate colors. If both colors are too vibrant it’s like being assaulted.

The “Morello Red” used by Cadillac is actually more of a deep, dark wine color. I think it would go well with their “Opulent Blue Metallic”. That said, I don’t mind the “toy” look, especially if it’s going to be on a sporty car. It is honestly not the place of the manufacturer to tell you what colors you do and don’t want. They make all of the parts in all of the colors anyway, so I strain to see where they would have to spend extra money to build to a specific color combo.

I think the C7 is the only American car with a “color override” option where they charge you $495 to combine interior and exterior colors however you want.

Well, to be fair the manufacturer does have -some- interest in not having hideous monstrosities driving around, but I do feel your pain. Blue/red isn’t even close to some of the horror shows I’ve seen come out of Porsche’s configurator.

Porsche, by the way, probably wins in terms of color choice, since they’ll make just about any part of the car literally any color your can give them a sample of. Like the “Acid Green” accents on their hybrids and the 918? Want a whole car in that color? No problem!

Want to customize the color of the VENT SLATS!? NO PROBLEM!

and leather wrapped no less.

I will be sufficiently rich once I can custom order a porsche to my heart’s content. $150k boxster here I come!

Yeah that’s why I find the color to work better on M3’s than the regular 3 series. Better color choices for the M. Fox red is great!

Very cool, but I can’t tell if the yellow makes or breaks it :)
