Basically the current CEO, Ellen Pao, fired the woman who organized the AMAs for whatever reason. Her name was Victoria and she was hugely involved with the subreddit admins as well. That is primarily what people were mad about now. The BIG AMAs from people who were never on reddit but were brought there were done by her. Some of those people like Arnold Schwarzenegger for example became reddit regulars because of it.
Also she closed down a bunch of subreddits and claims she will crack down on “hate speech” which she is using the definition of that rather liberally which resulted in several popular subs being closed down. People claim this is against the free speech idea that reddit was started on.
Shs is VERY hated on reddit.

Victoria is the one hated? But it sounds Victoria is widely loved, as many places “went dark” after her sacking.
