Very good very good. “Being government-run it was chaos from the start.” Work in government...can confirm general premise lol.

I like having you on here As Du Volant...you seem to have a wealth of automotive experience (I remember you telling me you’d been managing dealers for 20 years or something...if I got that wrong I apologize).

I am still in penny saving mode but when it comes time to finally pull the old Cavalier off the road and get something better I’ll be hitting you up if that’s ok.

You can see my latest want in my title bar there. (2015 Cadillac ATS Sedan Manual). I am not thinking new, but maybe like pre owned 3-4 years old something like that.

Cheers!

Thanks!

I’ve actually been in the biz for almost 8 years. Almost 2 years of that in upper management of a medium sized dealer group, first 3 months as a salesperson, and all the time in between in low-level management.

I’ll be happy to help you however I can when the time comes for your new Cadillac!

Right on. Gotta keep saving. I was looking at the payments and being like “I cannot afford that” (I think that was a $35K (CAD) new version so I need to put more down and then of course look used haha.

Either way before I pull the trigger I want to get a few months payments saved up before I even get the car. And I want to put down $5K wether it’s new or used.

OK true story:

It was the year of the clunkers, and I had a 1993 3000GT SL 5MT- now, the list of eligible clunker vehicles changed about 3 weeks later into the program, removing lots of V6 engine cars - so the Mitsus/Stealths were only eligible for rebates for those 3 initial weeks. I was really thinking to give mine up (Having Failed Smog again for the 4th time in 8 years, so every 2-yr CA smog check and needing reliable car with A/C, otherwise, it ran fine but needed some deep care near the 130,000 mile mark)

But...like the pregger girl who changes her mind after the Pro-Life folks show her some gory video full of damnation, I repented, I saw on youtube how they were killing the engines of the clunker trades (had to be done by law, and I don’t know why, I felt bad) and I decided that I wouldn’t and I couldn’t kill my car like that, even if the $4500 would’ve been more than any trade-in value I could have gotten.

In the end, our hero prevailed, by keeping the car alive for 2 more years, failing smog again during an economic downturn, and paying a chinese smog check guy for the ‘full checkup and repair fee of $200’ to pass Smog, then selling it for $4800 to someone who really wanted it.

Yeah, I remember those days at the Jalop, I do remember seeing a few unicorns, but I bet they were beyond repair. And even ze Germans use the same idea, so it had to help the economy for sure
