Lol that’s pretty crossed up. What part of the country are you in? I’m in Michigan, I’ll be at Gingerman and Grattan this weekend.

I just moved to Oklahona so I run with the CMRA which goes to all the south central tracks Hallett, MSR, etc. Nice, how are those tracks? I’ve never run any of the places up north or north east.

I love them, especially Grattan which is a real technical track with a good amount of cambered corners and elevation changes. But I haven’t tried out many new tracks. How expensive have you found racing to be? I’m thinking about getting into it, but not until next year.

Haha uh well, that is kinda hard to answer because “expensive” is a relative term. So, compared to track days it is more expensive. Cost of entry is higher, also racing will make you better at a much faster rate than track days and then you start going through consumables like brake pads and tires quicker. But really it’s as expensive as you want it to be. It all depends on how many races you sign up for, what size bike you run, how fast you are, how much you are willing to travel, how many races you go to, etc. The nice thing about racing is 1. I think the additional cost is more than justified by how much more fun I have at races compared to track days and 2. You don’t have to spend money to beat people. Until you get really really fast (or at least a lot better than me) it is all about who is just a better rider. I blew the doors off a guy on a brand new R1M at a track day the other weekend, and immediately after some guy on a bike comparable to mine just freakin dusted me haha. I really didn’t realize how talented those guys with expert licenses were until my first experience of that in a practice. Contrast that to the season I spent racing a shifter kart where it really felt like it was all about spending to have all the trick parts and getting your setup just perfect. That was annoying to me.

TL;DR: It isn’t cheap but it is totally doable cost wise, and you have a lot of control over how expensive it ends up becoming.

Sorry if that was an excessively long response. And as always I’m pretty new to all this so you should take it with a grain of salt.

Great response, thanks for the info. I’ll definitely be giving it a shot in the future.
